He initially served as a volunteer in the Revolutionary War, but on October 18, 1776, Congress commissioned him a Colonel of Engineers in the Continental Army. [8D]

He initially served as a volunteer in the Revolutionary War, but on October 18, 1776, Congress commissioned him a Colonel of Engineers in the Continental Army. [8D]

Isn' it possible he would have been in Poland 20 years later ??? His name really call something for me....i will try, if time given, to find my old lessons of History Faculty; or maybe to search on the net. But this name tell me something very blur about the East Europe history....
(not willing to say you are wrong: it is just a question; maybe it is an homonym, or his father/uncle/parent)...

Isn' it possible he would have been in Poland 20 years later ??? His name really call something for me....i will try, if time given, to find my old lessons of History Faculty; or maybe to search on the net. But this name tell me something very blur about the East Europe history....

If I recall my college history classes (European civ 101), he's one and the same. He fought in the US revolution, then returnerned to Poland and fought for her.

Never knew that. I just assumed they buried him near Savannah.

On March 19, 2007, the United States Senate voted unanimously to posthumously recognize Pulaski as an Honorary Citizen of the United States. The United States House of Representatives followed suit on October 8, 2009. Pending the President of the United States signs the resultant bill into law, Pulaski will become only the seventh person so honored. [:)][8D]

October 17 and November 6, 1799 he met with Napoleon Bonaparte. However, he failed to reach any agreement with the French leader. After the fall of Napoleon's empire in 1815 he met with Russia's Tsar Alexander I in Braunau. In return for his prospective services, Kościuszko demanded social reforms and territorial gains for Poland.

He was birgadier general in USA:).
In Poland he was fighting as second in command in division lead by future Marshall of France. Later he became commander of this division.
He was also a leader of uprising against Russia

If K met with Napoleon in 1799 I can see why no agreement was reached, there wouldn't have been a point. France wasn't in a position to demand anything from Prussia, AH and Russia at the time. Maybe Napoleon was just making the rounds with the emigre communities in France.
