Re: All things Football (soccer) related
...... nerves duly shredded!!
Australia 1 - 3 England
Australia made it tough as expected - really happy for them to go so far as host nation (and believe me Aussies, us English know all about semi-final heart-ache - not that that will be any consolation).
And so its on to the final and a date on Sunday with the Spanish, a team that came so close to knocking England out in the Euros.....

Heartache!
The next world cup is 4 years away and it will be played on the other side of the world in a terrible time zone so I feel the Matildas will disappear off the Australian radar.

Congratulations to Sweden on their 3rd place.....

Will we see Australia in the Olympic games next?

Would be nice to see the Swedish team go all the way some time. They been great for a long time, but not lucky enough.
Looking forward for the big one, and cheering for England.

Not nervous at all. 18 minutes to starting time... Not nervous. Certainly not nervous. Not at all. It is already in the bag.
17 minutes. Not nervous.

But maybe you like some of the players? I won't comment more about which players nor what you like about them . . .

Re: All things Football (soccer) related
...but congratulations to Spain. Worthy winners - easily played better football than England. More invention, more skill... it was just better football played by them overall.
England 0-1 Spain
But hard luck England, came into the tournament on the back foot with their captain, best creative player and a key goal-scorer all injured, and one centre back had just come back from injury too. That being the case, getting to the final was not going to be straightforward, but they did it and that is a source of pride.
Back to the domestic WSL in October.... and Spurs first game is Chelsea..... oh well, never mind, there is always next year.....

Well that's concerning.... Big Ange gets manager of the month and James Maddison gets player of the month.

Better to wait for an implosion, that to see the aftermath of one, and even worse to see that it does not recover.

Indeed - and desperately needed with Arsenal and Liverpool to come......... Losing three points at home to Sheffield United would have been a bit of a disaster.......My hatred of football is postponed for a week

The first half of the season has been.... different.
Put it this way, watching Spurs ship 4 goals to Chelsea and Brighton, and also lose to Villa, West Ham, Wolves and Fulham has been more enjoyable than watching Spurs win matches under Conte and Mourinho.
I can't emphasis enough how turgid, boring and desperate it was to watch the boring, dull and uninspired "tactics" they espoused.
In Ange, Spurs have a manager who seems to want to be there - and he's not doing Spurs a massive favour by deigning to come and manage at a club that is so clearly beneath him like the other two.
Whether Ange is ultimately successful or it all falls apart (as it so often does for Spurs) without any trophies, who knows? But at least I'm looking forward to matches and actually enjoying the way we try and play.
Difficult one tonight against Burnley (a repeat of the 1962 final) and I hope Ange gives some of the youngsters a chance. A return to Europe has to be be our priority this season and with so many injuries, suspensions and now AFCON/Asia cup commitments, Spurs desperately need to rotate some key players. If that means going out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle then so be it - but I'd rather we didn't lose

Re: All things Football (soccer) related
I hope so. But Pre-season has not really begun yet. The new coach, Henning Berg, entered when the goal was to avoid degradation. He did so splendidly, but I do not think he was able to get the team to play as he wanted. Will be interesting how the team looks after he had time to reform the team. The new season begins in Mars/April.
