Chalk up an operational victory for the allies.  The IJN soloman battle line had been on resupply to milne bay when he spotted a large fleet headed toward Lunga.  FatR did react and we did have a sea battle at Kira with my intent to pull him away from the Horn Island attack.

Now I have horn island and kirakawa.

I am surprised FatR has not committed the CV TFs..I have a counter plan for that also.

Turns are getting long and slow. Allies have alot of stuff.

Burma.  Nips have 3 level seven AFs in the irrawaddy valley.  Magwa has alot of 88mmAAunits but the other two seem less defended from the air.  Starting with a full moon I have tried to disrupt operation on the weaker defended AFs w/ constant night bombing after an initial daylight b24 attack w/60 planes.  Recon shows the effect.  I have burned some supply in this effort.  I hope to have caused the japs to expend some supply to rebuild.  Hopefully my recon reports indicate a possible higher level of damage at these bases. My objective is to eventually cause Fatr to w/draw his planes(and units) from magwe.

I suspect an armored uDiv at mandaley, a inf brigade at metelika, Inf Div+ at magwe.

Tracker intel reports 5 divisions prepped for Lil Andy. if I make a push into Burma I suspect these units will be sent to reinforce by sea from singers.

Over kirikiwa: The RA70 modified a6m4 stands toe to toe w/ the F6F.

FatR has used betties in AF attack to suppess kiri where I have to fly LRCAP from ndendi from time to take to cause casualities. I placed 80 f6fs on LRcap and 8 participated in the air battle.

I have used over 100000tons of fuel in the SOPAC so i wonder the effect on FatR of having to run his battle fleet all the time.

Sopac:
Lunga has a division. i did not recon lunga today. FatR seems to make it easy for me to go for PM. I note a level 6 AF at milni and a level 7 AF at lea.

Finally got something of what I would expect in air casualties at this date in the game.  kill ratio 6.5 to 1 over tulagi w/ an 80 plane marine f6f sweep.

Tracker reports the Yamato sunk by a mk12 mine. probably out of action for 3 months. Urban legend (according to my local game buddies) has it that the yamato is so large it clears its own path thru mine fields and can absorb mine hits w/ the blister hull.

edit:I can find no combat report to the above report

43jun10:

I used an amphib Tf w/ APAs to unload at terapo.  I worked late and stayed up late to make a turn for FatR.  My intent was to pull the Tf off Terapo last turn.  i did not hit the stop unload button and will probably lose two APAs. Looks like FatR has moved another air flotilla into the Rabaul area.

past three turns I have shelled the hell out of Lunga/tulagi and reinforced supply at kiri w/ no IJN response.

RE: operational tempo

Post by bigred »

I have noted that FatR is fixated on lil andaman as hitler was focused on Stalingrad.  majority of his ftr sqns plus 70% of active bomber forces seem concentrated in the maya peninsula area.  This has allowed me to wear down IJAAF units working the soloman/NG theatre.  I am surprised at the lack of air cover over Lunga/tulagi.

i suspect my buildup of fuel/supply is having effect on enemy as I keep moving from one Sopac/swpac operation into the next w/out any lag in tempo.  I note if I give a lag to FatR he has time to make a fix, so my intent is to continue forward press as this does not allow FatR time to regroup.

Tactically i have noticed my CL/5xDD SAG are very fast, can avoid betties, and seem to cause alot of damage if caught in a night fight.  So I have pulled my BB/CA units from all forward amphib ops in the Sopac area.

At The terapo landing my units went ashore w/out good prep but the hex was not garrisoned.

Around Sopac I have about 2/3 SAGs, did have about 6 but we had a big battle earlier...I was looking at my ship reinforcements and noted I get 2xCLs and 10xDDs every month for the rest of the war.

What were the pilot skills on the B24's like that hit Rabaul? Does a port strike use NavB or GndB (I'd assume NavB).

Both Port and Airfield strikes use Ground skill. In both instances you are hitting fixed facilities located on terra firma.

Well, she probably hit a mine anyways. The MK 12 is about as powerful as a long lance, so you probably put a sizeable dent in her hull. Maybe 3-6 months in the yard.....
