SUBS: A few subs attacks to start the night phase but none hit. Still can't relocate the big TF with injured cruisers. Maybe stopped in a dot base?
DEI: A big sweep hits Singers today. He gets 2:1 but still loses 7-9 A6M2 with the expert jocks. We lose some P-40E and P-39 with 50/60 guys, but most are just WIA. This part of the game is something I work at a lot. To keep pilots alive over my bases, especially when he has the better pilots.
I'll hit Balikpapan again tomorrow. Only 13 fighters there. No sign of BBs threatening Singers. Sent in a surprise from Colombo. CM Ariel arrived and with her speed she was able to get in to lay more mines. Up to 561 now. RN sub Trusty also arrived providing some more good working torps.
SOVIETS: Then the real fun started. The Soviets swarmed Harbin with MiGs, then sent in bombers to hit the fields and industry. After the sweeps no Nates were up to protect anything and the strikes are a major success. A good number of Sallys, Lilys and Nates also destroyed on the ground. After the turn recon shows the HI and LI each took ~20 points damage.
DB-T hit Shikuka Oil and it looks like they wiped out the rest of it. It's down to 1(29). If we get Toyohara tomorrow in the planned para-landing it will put a damper on local resource use by the IJ. I'll also continue to look for opportunities to hit big resource centres on Hokkaido, and eventually, Oil and industry on Honshu. Night strikes have been relatively ineffective. I need better pilots, so maybe with these strikes and experience increasing, they'll be ready soon.
CHINA: Nothing really happening here from the Japanese side. I've decided to take advantage of Russian supply, which is flowing into Western bases ([&o][&o]) to do some more industry bombing. I'll attempt to hit 4 targets next turn.
Western bases are maxed out and some Corps are heading there with replacements and upgrades turned on. I'd like to get 3-4 filled out.
