Im sure he is a good guy GJ....just seems like whenever something doesnt go his way he asks for a HR and or a beta change....thats my observation....he got caught with his pants down. You did NOTHING wrong

Agree ... he abused the leaky cap to murder your CVEs and you manned up and moved on.
Absolutely no reason there should be a HR change now because he lost a few hundred fighters to a feint.

In my book that's not abusive, that's good play.

Com'on guys. We clarified. I'm perfectly happy with the new HR. Matter closed. Let's move over cos we have Japan top invade and conquer...we don't have time for these chats [;)]

However...at Tokyo there are still 2300 fighters, 1800 bombers and 600 aux (probably bombers)...so we've just scratched the paint[:'(].

Loadings (the real one!) just started...it will take us at least 3 fully turns to load everything...and i need to study a way to keep my ships as safe as possible!

Consider that only IJNAF was involved in this turn...the IJAAF is still there, intact...with thousands of Franks and Peggies(T)....

Again...one last time...believe me: Rader is a good one

Definitely, he seems like a sterling guy, I don't think he is whinging, I just happen to agree with you on this one.
I think the new HR is well-balanced, at least when and if naval strikes can be prioritized.

He does seem to ask for HRs more often, so maybe there are some HRs you'd like to ask him for as well?

Ever thought of going into politics?

Yes, the problem is not solved yet, is it? But based on this trial run, your CAP provided good cover. Kamis might change the equation some. I just think you're going to take some losses. You're invading the heart of Japan. You should take some losses. But either way this could break the back of the Japanese airforces. Maybe spreading it out over more days is an idea, giving fewer targets and more chances for the IJ to impale itself on your CAP, but actually invading with enough first to keep a hold while you trickle in.

We keep on loading...the fleet is huge but even so the ships i gathered are just enough to get aboard the first wave...[X(].
I'm trying to optimize my TFs, giving to each of them enough empty "bonus ships" to get all the soldiers on the beach in one single turn...hard task, believe me!

At Hachinoe he has now placed several CD guns units.... my BBs aren't able to penetrate the barrage of fire created by all those guns and my bombers, are taking severe losses to the incredible amount of flak he managed to get there...
Losses Obvert? Oh i know...i will take tremendous losses...both by his CD guns and by his planes...i know...but hey! This is a war and you cannot hope to get in an out without a scar or two [:D]

I'm getting pretty worried about all those CD guns....Rader managed to concentrate a lot of firepower on the beaches at Hachinoe...

I will try to make my TFs as big as possible (100 ships) so to concentrate all the firepower of my limited supporting ships (BBs, CAs, LCI (G)s etc...)

I'm also bringing with me some CD guns too (i fear that if the invasion fails my guys will be tormented by japanese BB bombardments) and some base forces equipped with radars...wanna have radars on the beach...in the hope that radar will help coordinate the CAP when the ships will be gone...

North Pacific HQ (9 hexes of range) will be placed at Hakkodate, 100 prepped for Hachinoe. In place we'll have an amphib HQ, an Army HQ and a Corp HQ for the first wave... should be enough for what concerns HQ bonuses...

By my count, depending on health of units, I'd say 12000-13000 AV there.

So much?? I had said less than 9000... well, i want to believe the gurus of land combat are right...AVs don't count much late in the war cause it's the firepower that really matters....

however i'm scared like hell[X(]...but Alea Iacta Est...and there's nothing i can do about it now...

They showed up after the feint, maybe a quick feint to another destination might pack them into strategic mode for a couple of days. Hard to do now but some, anything might help

Is it doable provided the right support in terms of surface ships?

This is the count I get. Not sure how much a Depot Division has, and I thikn all of those base forces are 30 AV, but I've never played late game so not sure if they are the same there.

Not sure he'll be able to knock you back with these, but with 6+ forts it could be hard to break through quickly, and who knows what else will come. better now though than later with the reinforcements he'll get in the next half year, plus the far flung troops probably still on their way back to the HI.
-------------------------------------------------

Division - 450 x 20 = 9,000

Depot Div - 350? x 2 = 700

Mixed Brigade - 210 x 4 = 840

Mixed Rgt - 125 x 7 = 875

SNLF - 60 x 11 = 660

Base Force - 30 x 60 = 1800

-----------------------------

Total AV - 13,875

+ 11 x 50 = 550

PS - The two lists from the air raids are different. This is from the lower one. Looked at the top and found another 11 Tank Rgts!

..doesn anybody have any experience about a landing in front of all those CD guns? Is it doable provided the right support in terms of surface ships?

Not directly comparable, but in Marianas Scenario, Saipan has significant CD guns. Bombard with BB's before and on the day of landing (I presume you are doing that). Port attacks by air (presume you are doing that too). The damn things will keep firing until port damage is into the 80's at least. Every landing TF needs a BB to absorb fire and suppress the guns. High land rating CO of the amphibious taffy. Use APA's and LSI's and LCI's for the infantry, LST's and LSD's for the armor and arty.

The APA's will reliably unload troops in one day if loaded to 70% of their troop load capacity (you may be able to do more packign but have not tried it). The LCI's and LCT's can be packed to their rated capacity. Put at least a dozen LCI(R) in each group.

Add 2 medium sized cloves minced garlic, oregano and three or four Tokyo Bay leaves and simmer over high heat for 2 days.[:'(]

It is the two day turn that is the problem. After day 1, the BB's will be out of main gun ammo and everything above the main deck will be bent or burning. The LCI(R)'s will be out of ammo. Inevitably, some APA's or other landing ships will have been hit or will still have 3 x 2 1/2 truck aboard and the AI will want to stay and finsih unloading. Also, the supply unload from the APA's after the troop unload may not be done on day 1.

To counter this problem, you could turn on "troop load only" on the APA's and tank-bearing LST's and then have dedicated AKA's and LST's will supply ONLY in the mix. The AI may then send the amphib taffy back to port after day 1. You could also load LCT's with supply only and no escorts and have them arrive on day 2. They will be murdered but the penalty is low. I used this to get supply ashore at Saipan with success.

I would also suggest staging a fresh BB bombardment taffy to arrive on day 2.

Just to be clear: I have no idea what Rader has there and due to recent events I won't even speculate.

What I will just say though is that if the IJA has double the AV then it CAN defeat an amphibious invasion even into 1945 ( when the firepower disparity is even greater ). Before someone claims I'm cheating or drawing from something in Rader's thread I'll just say that I know this ONLY because I've defeated an Allied amphibious invasion comprising just under 1,200 AV ( before landing ) with a defending force which eventually measured 1800 AV around Okinawa. My initial 1,000 AV destroyed some 300 AV as he landed and he never got more than 900 AV functioning on the base. Aerial bombing to disrupt his ground forces combined with repeated attacks eventually forced the surrender of the Allied forces.

There are obvious implications of this maths ( from another similar game ) for your game. I give no suggestions as to how you should proceed. I'm just pointing out my personal experience from a game in which I had to face Allied amphibious invasions.

Well, that's that settled then.

I Landed at Fukadoma once in downfall.  I had to go through the Tsushima with a bunch of 40CM CD gun's.  The invasion work, I cut Japan in half but I got messed up.  Sank 2 old BB's couple of CA's and any aka hit by a single shell evaporated.  Took it in the days but it was tough going.  I did notice that the big guns really want to dual with the big ships so if you have an old BB in your invasion task force it will draw a lot of attention.  I believe big port air attacks suppress these guns to some extent so what ever you can spare, including dive bombers and TBM's might want to run port attacks.  Can't confirm this though.
Today I come bearing an olive branch in one hand, and the freedom fighter's gun in the other. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. I repeat, do not let the olive branch fall from my hand. - Yasser Arafat Speech to UN General Assembly
