A flank speed combat ship run from Singers will get the IJN 16-20 hexes....I am trying to prevent that. Merchant shipping can only get 6 to 8. Japan took back Mersing from 4 paratrooper squads...it was a distraction/opportunity and actually worked in drawing out the IJN surface fleets that got pommeled by the fleet carriers. ;)

Indian Army units will eventually reduce or even eliminate their British infantry elements. I also think that in late 1943 there is a TOE "upgrade" to some Indian division replacing some artillery with mountain guns, possibly removing some artillery as well as motorized support squads which could possibly have difficulties doing the CCR thing . . .

Haven't really bothered much with TOE upgrades, other than the Australians, tbh. I find I run out of juice on each turn with so much left to do.
Don't worry, as the war continues you will have even more to do.

Maybe someone who has played the Allies this far and farther in the game can give you some information about the TO & E upgrades.

Typo there. Pommel is the knob at the end of a sword handle that keeps it from sliding out of your hand. Pummel is what you were going for.

It is okay as a verb....synonyms: bash, lash out; pummel, hammer, bludgeon etc, etc.. Pummel is the transitive verb form. I have seen it spelled with one or two l's. ;)

Pommel as a noun now is a different meaning.

Breakout from Singers...

Two powerful surface SAGs spotted by subs that failed to penetrate their asw screens. Dutch sub lightly damaged by 7 near misses but it expends there ASW ammo...

Bingo! Heavy fires the ship is doomed to Davy Jones locker....with growing control over the South China Sea the IJN tanker force is pretty much meaningless to Japan but a source of VP to the Allies. However, I suspect all the tankers and cargo ships in these groups are carrying fuel. Japan is either carrying fuel in drums on the cargo ships or I hit a lot of the ships with dual capacity over the length of the war.

13 hexes from main IJN concentration to Saigon....15 to Cam Ranh Bay. The enemy SAGs will be able to make a flank speed run and get under their air coverage of a size 5 and 4 runways....if they get thru the sub gauntlet. The tankers, cargo ships and CVE are slower and will make only 6-8 hexes.

The II US Fighter Command HQ just arrived and can supply torpedoes in a 5 hex range and coordinate land based air strikes (spending the PP to convert to their command), while our air force expands to size 5. I will probably put one together...2-3 squadrons of fighter escorts and 1 torpedo bomber. One squadron of ABs will be put on night duty and some Jugs will sweep Saigon. Perhaps get one other squadron to night bomb Saigon's runways.

I think the tactic for today/tonight is to intercept with as many DESRONs as I can get into their path for night time skirmishes, and save South Dakota for followup on the morrow. Plus the subs will all move looking to intercept. The Deathstar will most likely move into position to hit the enemy ships assuming an 6-10 hex movement on the route to Saigon and Cam Ranh Bay. It will probably cost us lots of planes...but our pools are strong and putting the Yamato out of the war is somewhat desirable. Plus our Hellcats on escort duties should do well.

Thinking it thru...I think the goal is to intercept and slow movement and hit hard with Deathstar keeping our heavy cruisers and battleships in reserve.

Our goal is to isolate the entire Burmese, Thailand, and Vietnamese enemy forces. Bombing them once fighter coverage is gone and eliminating them with follow on forces while our spearhead forces continue east.

I believe the Super Fortress arrives as early as Dec or Jan...and I want them to start a night bombing campaign against Honshu. Hopefully we will end the war no later than Jan 1, 1945. Too optimistic?

You are getting far too carried away if you are trying to attack graphics as well

The IJN merchants seem to pull back while the SAGs head to Singkawang....a Fletcher DESRON has two battles and does very well. We did get a torpedo launch on Yamato but the distance was simply too great.

Two PT boat squadrons engage...but the first turns tail and runs, while the 2nd at least fires off 25% of their torps...but they all miss. Poor conditions for them to operate in. We lose one PT boat...

An ASW squadron evades....and evades. Here we spot the Taiyo and Hosho along with the damaged Aoba which our Intel Department keeps reporting as sunk.

Our small Desron engages during the day....as the enemy taskforce remains at Singkawang after their bombardment....which destroys 30 planes on the ground. Good runway damage prevents an air attack....amazing that they could do so much damage after so many surface fights.

Day Time Surface Combat, near Singkawang at 55,89, Range 29,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Yamato
BB Hyuga
CL Naka
DD Niizuki
DD Natsushio
DD Ariake
DD Tatsuyuke
DD Satsukaze

Allied Ships
DD Converse
DD Waller, Shell hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage

Maximum visibility in Clear Conditions: 30,000 yards
CONTACT: Japanese lookouts spot Allied task force at 29,000 yards
CONTACT: Allied lookouts spot Japanese task force at 29,000 yards
BB Yamato engages DD Converse at 29,000 yards
Range closes to 28,000 yards
BB Hyuga engages DD Waller at 28,000 yards

Deathstar, loses 30 Hellcats despite sweeping ahead over Cam Ranh Bay but puts heavy damage and heavy fires on one Destoyer, and sinks 4 AMc, and 3 SC.

I keep forgetting to put a squadron of Hellcats on high escort.

The 6th Chinese Corp will try to close the pocket on the IJA 4th Guards Division today or at least attack the freshly arrived 4th Guards.

Prome down from 30K supply to 3k as it sends the trucks all over. I did upgrade one Indian Division in case there is hard fighting at Rangoon or Prome. Supply in Burma tops 150k for the first time.
