Japan gets a large number of SCs coming up soon. They are slow and short legged, but they carry a good amount of depth charges and have an ASW rating of 8, which is the best Japan has at this stage of the game.

Here is my engine pool. Remember, I did expansions on turn one so I am building up my industry as fast as possible. This should be a good reality check if you see this. There is no instant avalanche of Japanese production. It takes a long time to getto the point where you have a surplus of anything except for obsolete engines or airframes. Ida anyone?

Here is my current aircraft research. Note that I am focussing on a few types. The Helen I is my near term focus as I want it for my primary army bomber and ASW aircraft. I am also investing a lot of points in the KI-84a Frank. It is not due until early 44 but I have a significant number of R&D facilities repairing to work on it and when they all get repaired I will be researching a couple hundred a month. If I can get lucky enough to get this fighter in late 43 (October would be nice) then it could be a game changer.

Note that I still have several Claude units on the map. I have only upgraded two of them to Zeroes. There are still Claudes flying at Truk.

Here are the bombers.

Things should continue to heat up over the next few turns. Hopefully the production screenshots were helpful to some. I will try to get an armaments pool shot in the next couple of turns for those that asked. This will be relevant with those Japanese infantry reinforcements that will be arriving soon.

I should have the next turn processed and the results up on here tomorrow evening.

I am greatly enjoying the ideas and commentary.

With Manila gone he can only retreat to Iba or Bataan. Most of his supply stockpiles are gone and all of my Manila forces are on the way. I strongly feel that my opponent should have consolidated all of his forces in Manila earlier. The terrain mulitplier would have favored his combined stacks and he would have had supply.

The problem with that is you loose the Bataan run away which can take a while for Japan to clear and keep Manilla harbor closed. Bataan has nice terrain and excellent artillery for a last stand though its not as effective as historical. SO keep 40% in Manila , 60% in Clarke hopefully Manila troops will retreat to Clarke..

I think your attack is the best counter to this strategy.

Carriers...none accelerated.

Why not halt the 45 ones and accelerate 1 or 2 42 ones. You don't need Carriers in 45 anyway.

Also with the Frank Research i heard the maximum acceleration is 3 months. So 44/1

I have a routine for this. As soon as the Yamato and Musashi are done, you will see me acclerating my carriers with a fury.

The Frank deal may be true. I intend to find out. If it isn't that would be very cool for Japan.

How is your supply and HI holding up with all the expansion?

Even in 1/44 having Franks to provide land based fighter support over the IJN would be really nice to have.  I always thought the R&D of stock was a bit too much.  3 months seems reasonable to me.

Just saw a new thread on this and conclusions from testing
-there is no limit to the amount you can accelerate ( so looks like the 3month rumour was incorrect)
- Unrepairer factories produce no research points
- Research factories have greatly decreasing returns of scale. so 2 * 30 factories is much better than 1 * 100.
- Acceleration is for each 100 points accumulated and the chance is based on how many months away.

I am not certain that this is correct as I seem to be getting research points on factories that are repairing. I saw the post but I made these changes in the first couple of turns and paid the HI for the expansion. I expanded several factories to expand to 120 per month and it will be several months and a bunch of supply before they are repaired. However, when that happens I hope that I am able to make up ground on the research. Either way, I will be producing a significant number of Franks right off the bat whenever I get the plane. I certainly hope that the poster is incorrect in his assumptions but only time will tell. From what I recall, his points were based on a mix of witp expereince plus one month of tests in AE.
