In Russia, Empire again did not attack where she crossed near Vladivostok.
Maybe this move was a feint designed to pull several Soviet units away from the offensive in Manchuria?

Naval combat at Miri
So I cant extend air power to interdict Miri, so I sent 5 disposable DE's. The outcome was pretty good, because he doesn't have a lot of air around...at least for now.
Since they were loading fuel, I would assume all with heavy fires will sink, as it is impossible to stop a tanker on fire.

RE: Russia Status
The empire has adeptly prevented my forces from doing a quick pincer.
On the western end of the historical pincer, the size / strength of the ruskies has finally pushed through the rough terrain, and they are now on the Changchun plain. The western force plans to stay south of the main river and trap all exposed empire forces.
ON the eastern side, the battle has progressed very slowly. given thy have to advance on rail lines, and through the wooded rough, progress has been very slow. Just destroyed the fortress at kotou 116.42 and have turned south to gomeet the other end of the pincer in 4 to 6 weeks
On Sakhalin, the empire has moved enough forces on the island that the existing red forcs will not take Shikuka until I get more troops and a combat engineer there. Well done empire on that. But my sieging land forces serve as magnets to empire air, and that takes pressure off the exposed airbase network

Russia airframes
As I have described throughout the young ruskie campaign, the empire has massed more than enough aircraft to manhandle the Ruskie air fleet. Sure, I have been able to win some air battles, but the empire clearly is superior here. Most of the eastern coastal soviet bases are bombed out or damaged.
This will continue to be a problem for many months, until the other allies get close.

After a long stalemate, I massed a large army and have been taking on all comers. This may be a long lived event. In any event, here is where it is now.

September 1, 1945
we officially entered extra innings today.
titanic air battles continue to occur around Vladivostok with heavy losses on both sides. Russian airpower has been mostly pushed out of eastern Russia due to empire air dominance. I still have Rybolov but I am not sure how much longer. The empire planes are vastly superior.
American's invade Kusai and are well on their way to capture the base after 4 days. Once the base is taken, the fleet will move to sorong area to support the final isolation of DEI and the attack on the Mariana's.

RE: September 1, 1945
Here is the particulars. today, the Russians were on top, busting through poorly coordinated empire air attacks. more than 200 empire planes go down. yesterday, I screwed the pooch with my air orders and he bombed a base into the stone age, destroying 125 aircraft.
you get the idea.
Note I have moved the bulk of my Red air forces, and all bombers out of empire fighter range, because they aren't safe!

The graphics do not agree with your statement of 125 aircraft lost on the ground - the Intel screen says only 4 were lost.ORIGINAL: topeverest

Did you get a report of 125 aircraft damaged? If so, the report is not well stated since it would really mean 125 holes total in an unstated number of aircraft.

I think the destroyed Russian planes were from the previous turn, and on the current turn the Russkies got some revenge.

RE: September 1, 1945
Correct.
ruskie air force is getting smacked around by the empire. The empire has many more planes to throw into the game. combine that with low ruskie AA and few engineer squads, and you have the recipie that shuts down the Russian airforce against a methodical empire player.
And my esteemed opponent is far from haphazard!

It was a baseball metaphor for the fact that the historical war ended September 1 1945.

Russian airspace falls silent.
About the only material event this past turn is that Kusai fell to the American onslaught AND a second allied DE tf going to Miri gets chewed up by an empire CL task force.
gotta send in the cruisers next...

empire minor naval victory at Miri
In all fairness, he smoked the fleet (ette) I sent, but it is still an empire win. FYI, that is the only oil producing port he can access on the western end of Borneo, so he is committing to it. I am not yet in range of LBA (cant use 4e navally in our game)
I just cant understand why my DE's didn't win - ha ha.

Kusai falls to Marines
This attack went well. I was patient and the empire was stripped of supply prior to invading. It reaped rewards.
I will use this base for 4E to bomb the remaining bases in Marshalls to oblivion.

The next game month
Now that all the immediate objectives around the Marshalls have been taken, the main American CV fleet is moving to Sorong to effect two objectives -
1. cut off Celebes and Borneo from Philipines (and home islands)
2. begin the walk to the Mariana's - expect allies to move on Babelbob / pelilieu next, but it will be several game weeks before the fleet is moved and assembled.
3. stage the bulk of the American force around Sorong for the jump into the Phippines.
4. mass supply and fuel for the biggest / largest contested invasion of the game - - - Philippines.
