Just to show that it is possible to get a IJA division to fort 5 in a non base hex. The troopers aren't happy, look at that morale...they just don't like shovels.[:D] That, and the fact the rice is being diverted to Ichang to support the bombing of Chungking, which is really dwindling in AV each day now.
You mean this division did nothing and stayed in place for like 4-5 months? Do you really have this kind of luxury in 42 China?
Also, did it build while divided into A/B/C? If not, this would challenge my understanding of how forts are built by large LCUs

I've had some in place now for almost three years! They've gotten to forts 6, but only after spitting them up to build. I have hd some units eventually build to over 2 now when not split, but it seems to take MUCH longer.

I have got two months to take Chungking, Kunming to Paoshan and then clean up the rest of China, notably the Changsha pocket.

Bombing Kunming to Paoshan runways, Nicks are LRCAPing Chungking, and there is no sign of supplies being flown in...which probably means the Chinese are in for a rough time.

Relatively quiet day in the North,...hit an AO, the Sepulga at Adak with a bomb from a Nell.

Allies lost more fighters at Adak, including 3 Lightnings...CAP present is only 3-5 fighters.

Japan is pounding the Commonwealth at Cox's, and will clear the riff raff on the Lashio railway.

Having Ceylon makes this really quite worry free...for now.

In general I have been going pretty slowly everywhere, and here we will send a RTA division to get some combat experience cleaning up these starving survivors of the fall of Malaya.

APD's are starting to grab all the small empty bases in the SRA.

Against somebody like Obvert, I would have been much more diligent...as he would sub transport supplies in and setup a little float plane attack base for example, or even just a search base to coordinate subs with.

Well, yeah, these guys are containing the troops in the Changsha triangle...

I did just re-build it, and I probably should go back and check the history of the division, and see the morale loss over time. They are short support...so this has some lessons for setting up long term block positions in the field.

That's some epic entertainment, my friend! Maybe I missed it, but has your opponent lost a lot of DDs? If it were me, I'd be creating smaller SAGs with at least 1 DD per heavy unit. I hate to see DMSs used in that way, but maybe he has no choice.

Cheers,
CB

Here you Cap, dd losses...

Get did some testing here, and of course the absolute correct way to get IJA divisions to dig in quickly past 2, they must be splintered into 1/3rds.

6 is impressive!

So when they get to 6 when split, do they stay there when rebuilt?

Frank A and Sam are of course the largest research projects going on...the best Frank A factory is at 25 fixed 5 broken, while the best Sam factory is only 50%.

Here is the end game surprise...the Kikka. Also, it would be nice to see those 93s' in action. As far as I know, the Kikka can only replace Betty/Nell/Frances squadrons (i.e. medium bombers) until very very late in the game...so definitely a trade off converting squadrons to the short range Kikka. Plus she is expensive to make.

You know, I like a slower paced war...but absolutely none of my games have gone that way.

Mike, I am pretty sure it takes an average and rounds down of the three splinters...so don't combine a 5,5,6 but do combine a 6,6,6. I could be wrong there, haven't done it in a long long time.

They're repairing very well considering it's only Nov 42. [:D] Why did you do the Ki-93-Ia and b? Why not put them both on the a?

I want them both![:'(] I do plan on putting more r&d into those white elephants once the Frank R comes along and the Sam.

Right now I am struggling with my R&D because I want Peggy T (as a kamikaze), but might have to settle instead for the Frances only. I also want to research the Ki115 and Toka a bit more. So many end game toys, and not enough supply or factories.[&:]

A good day on the ground in China and Burma...the road to Lashio almost cleared, thanks to strafing Nicks and Oscars to soften up the Commonwealth, Cox's pummeled again and the odds of victory (knock on wood) look good there...two fights in China cause routs and large numbers of Chinese destroyed, and Chungking suffers under bombing and bombardments.

Trying not to get too far ahead of myself here and accidentally stick my head in a noose. I would like to have Sit and its size 2 runways before I go further east.

2 Divisions prepping for Adak, but with the mines seriously degraded, I can pummel her good with shipping for now.

Whether that cruiser goes down or not, the Yamato definitely has done some heavy lifting this war so far.[:)]

Allies move back in position to give it another go, and this time I need a whole new set of tactics...
