RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo
How would that work? A large transport force is spotted moving toward Trunk. The IJN carriers react but likely stay NW or W of Truk to use their range advantage. Perhaps the transports move to Truk covered by LRCAP from the carriers 3-4 hexes back so the IJN attack is concentrated on the transports. The LRCAP downs many IJN A/C. Day 2...the USN carriers close range.
Many things could go wrong. [:D]

Won't you have CVLs too, or is that the 9 number. That seems too low for a CVE count.ORIGINAL: Cap Mandrake
Now that Clark has fallen I am beginning to wonder if it is advisable to push urgently toward Luzon or to wait for the arrival of two more CV's and 3 CVL's in the next 50 days? The nurses in the Malinta Tunnel and MacArthur will be POW's by then, I suspect.
The massive size of IJN carrier raids is terrifying. One option perhaps is to try to draw the IJN carriers into a battle with a fake landing at Truk with empty transports and a prewar BB. The Allied carrier force would be 5 CV's and 9 CVE's and leaving Long Island as a Replenishment carrier

It might be costly but you could have a lot of 4Es on Naval Attack to wear down the enemy CAP. Have lots of subs to blanket where you think his carriers might hang out.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Subs would work but I doubt the IJN will go anywhere near Rabaul or Kavieng or Mussau. Mussau is the closest at 13 hexes

Having trouble unloading the radar?
Try using an Amphibious TF using AKA ships. That will give the best load/unload rates.
