Home Islands west. No surface combat today, but a number of night air raids on the fleet carriers. Lots of support units landed at Kochi, more underway. Lots of air support is now on site so we have moved in 60 Hellcat night fighter variants. Tonight's air raids are in for tougher flying. The first two groups of the NZ Corsairs have also flown in to take up short range daytime CAP. They are the F4U-1D model, with a service rating of 1.

Tokara Retto now sports a size 2 air base and two squadrons of P-47D25 have moved in to supplement the two P-47D2 squadrons.

At Clark Field it appears the Japs are still in supply from Manila. If you move one LCU from Clark to Manila that would cut them off (I think?) and then you should be able to wipe out the remaining enemy at Clark very quickly.

I can't move from Clark to Manila nor from Manila to Clark because both sides of that hex border are owned by Japan. His troops at Clark are getting a supply (-), so hopefully supplies available are a trickle.

That's right. Look at some of the above maps and you will see some red hex sides, some green hex sides, and some that are green on one side and red on the other side (this one happens less often so you might have to hunt around to see examples). The way it works is that each hex has it's own 6 hex sides. When you move from one hex to another you are crossing, First) the hex side of the hex you are leaving, Second) the hex side of the hex you are entering.

The rule is that to *leave* a hex, you must own the hex side of the hex you are leaving.

Since the hex side of the Clark hex which faces Manila is owned by Japan, no Allied unit can leave the Clark hex by that hex side.

You only flip ownership of a hex's hex side when you *enter* the hex across that hex side.

When two opposing units enter an empty hex on the same turn, neither side owns any of the hex sides. I've seen that case a number of times, but I have not yet had occasion to see what you described. I imagine that they both crossed the adjoining hex sides on the same turn, and the game said that neither side had ownership. But when you moved a unit back across the hex boundary you got ownership and trapped them. Good going!

That should change tonight. The pursuers have now caught up to the ex-Kochi defenders and will attack tomorrow. Just across the straits at Fusan, recon has been showing lots of ships including many DD. Those are probably E, but just the same the B-29 groups from Formosa made a port strike.

Recon has been showing a CA and a merchant of some kind at Sendai for a while. Not sure if the CA got away or if that was a red herring. At any rate the navy patrol/bombers were sent to hit the port but really to sink the CA, attacking at 5,000 ft.
