Took a break from the game, "upgraded" to Windows 10. Went back to game. Set up Tracker and here is the message I receive when I try to load it. It then sits there doing nothing ad nauseum.

It is 32 bit Java. Any ideas?

I've got exactly the same problem for exactly the same reasons. I've Java 8 installed and I'm using the pwsdll7 file. I've found altering the memory settings works for a few turns but I got to the stage where I had to deleted all memory references to get it to work read the next turn, this being turn 16.

I was wondering if the problem has something to do with the latest Java and the pwsdll7 file as I never had any problems like this with Java 6.

Chris and whoever else reads this later. I seem to have fixed it. In retrospect someone probably had already solved this problem and reported it but I did not read backward far enough to find the answer. Edited the bat file and changed 384 and 768 to 512 and 1024 respectively.

I did read it and did try it but as I said it worked for a few turn, eventually refusing to load a new turn. I fixed (or apparently fixed) the problem by using Java 6 with these memory setting 384 and 768. Read what you will into it.

Hi, guys. Been a while since I've tried to reset Tracker for a new game, and in the back of my mind I've had this problem before (but not finding any earlier queries, of course).

Two active games, one brand new. Just updated to the latest DBB, still running fully-updated Win 7 64-bit, latest and greatest Java. Started the new game, immediately saved, started -- or tried to start -- Tracker to get a baseline reading and after initializing the DB files Java returns the error message "Java Platform SE binary has stopped working".

Do I remember correctly that Tracker doesn't like a game where nothing has been done, or is there some other likely cause? Aside from the fact that it works for one game and not the other, everything that matters seems to be identical (different data paths, of course) in the properties files. Only other difference that might be significant is that I copied the new pwsdll.dll file, but should that have been the pwsdll7.dll, instead?

You need the pswdll7.dll file in the tracker folder.

The more I use Windows 10 - the less I like it.

Anyways, my SmartScreen filter is not allowing me to download the 1.10 zip file - it's says it's unsafe. I've tried everything I know to do to disable SmartScreen - but no luck.

Anyone else having similar results?

Microsoft has a link to show you how to turn off SmartScreen filter.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17443/windows-internet-explorer-smartscreen-filter-faq

You can turn it off and then back on after you download Tracker. False positives for such protections are common. particularly, some filters are over broad by flagging any file with certain things in it, like maybe a Java application such as Tracker. If you really think or worry that the Tracker download file might have been compromised, certainly scan it with more than one tool after you download it, and wait for one of the Tracker guys to get back to you.

And BTW SmartScreen filter was apparently introduced in Internet Explorer 8. It's not at all new with Windows 10.

Para, try changing the Xms number to 768 and the Xmx to 1024. It looks to me like a memory shortage....GP

Para, I have had this come up when I had other programs open. Only certain ones, mostly firefox and/or windows media player. Try closing things down after doing what GP said.
You can also put a nomap at the end of the line.

java -Xms256m -Xmx1024m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Make sure the lib folder is unpacked in the same place as the jar and bat file.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

I was using tracker for a few days and about 10 turns. Had a power glitch that turned off my PC. restarted to play again but when I started Tracker I receive the message below. Can you not ever turn tracker off or you lose the ability to continue the game?

C:\WitpAE Tracker>java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 177 >= 177
at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Unknown Source)
at witptracker.AirGroup.GetAirGroups(AirGroup.java:232)
at witptracker.InMemoryDB.LoadStartupTables(InMemoryDB.java:150)
at witptracker.Main.main(Main.java:163)

C:\WitpAE Tracker>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

No it's supposed to work. Did you quit the program or did the PC terminate it on reboot?

Had a power failure so the PC was cut off. Once the power came back on I simply ran it and that was the error message.
I purposely had the program running for 5 days because I had exited the program once before and I could not get it to run again
until I deleted the whole folder and created a new one losing all history. Is there some sort of shut down procedure to avoid error messages?
What is the error message trying to tell me? Can I get it back?
