Price?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

You don't have the game so you can't make an honest and fair judgement on what the game is worth. As indicated by the majority of your posts at this site you're just here to whine about it. It's obvious you have bigger issues than the cost of this game.

If I am such a troll and only here to whine about the game then why waste your time even talking to me... How did you make your judgement on what the game is worth before you bought it by looking at a few screenshots.. I can slap some counters on a map and sell you a game for 100 dollars apparently that is all it takes.

Today at lunch my wife, who makes a nice six-figure income and who loves going to yoga classes, told me that she wasn't going to be doing yoga any more. I asked why, and she told me that the yoga studio had raised the rates to a level that she felt was unreasonable and a poor value and that she was not going to reward people who were charging overly high prices by paying them. She then asked me if I had done anything like that recently. I smiled and said "There's this overpriced game I won't buy..."

Well Mr Steely Glint, I took the plunge with this game based on the fact I would have purchased 2 xbox 360 games this month if it wasnt for the fact ive been waitng for this game for years. Im not dissapointed. I can wait for my 2 xbox games. Im still amazed I shelled out the money! Most Ive EVER spent on a computer game in my life and Ive purchased ALOT! I still dont feel ripped off. Its a polished product that has taken a small developer years to make and they will never make the money back to justify the development time. My only justification is that there isnt another game out there with the same type of gameplay, visual style and AI. In a gaming world where I feel like ive played Call of Duty 20 times over but with a new graphics engine (I still love MW2 btw :-)), its great to be playing a game that feels totally new and pushes gaming in a new direction. That for me, is worth the admission.

I hope you join the ranks [:)]

People like me on a low income have a greater appreciation of money and can appreciate good value as well. Commonsense and intelligence isn't a gift exclusive to some six figure income earners.

I'll retract that comment I'm starting to fall to the same level...... Raverdave is right

LOL Billy! To Sulusea, you shouldnt have to buy a game to evaluate it. A demo helps in this respect. All other information provided by the game maker should be sufficent for you to make a decision on the game having the value to you the maker wants to charge. Frankly I consider the game overpriced. The fact NWS is selling it for less the Matrix is even more confusing to simple old me. so much goodwill could have been earned meeting the NWS pricepoint with a digital download.

Frankly I hear alot about supporting indi devs, but by the same token, if you wish me to be a devoted supporter of your company and products, doing the "right thing" earns that goodwill in return. Pretty simple really. At any rate I am interested in Panther games, but until the prices come down I wont touch one.

You make some good points in this thread , this game has been on my radar for quite some time, I've read plenty of posts during it's development. The developer might have one of the best reputations in this business, I feel I'm making an educated purchase taking into account the reviewers but more importantly the people that play this game that don't get a free title.

If not for the NWS price I would have held off, no question.

Without playing any of the games in the series I feel it is sligthly overpriced but if the game is as good as I anticipate it may be underpriced. I feel the very same way about Admiral's Edition. I have to be around 7 cents per hour played on that game. I'll be sure to post my thoughts after my copy arrives and I get to play it 10 plus hours[which may be a day or two[;)]]

Yep im still playing AE no question it was worth every cent. At any rate I may still go the NWS route if the demo meets my expectations. I will look foreward to your opinions on the game. Post a AAR as well if you have the chance please!

Why is NWS $20 cheaper for a hard copy version than Matrix? I have never shopped at NWS always Matrix.

Is she looking for a new husband? [:D]

Perceived value for the money-

I won't go to a baseball game and spend $8.00 for a beer or $4.00 for a hot dog. I'll eat before entry to the stadium and drink a beer after I get home.

I used to do buy most of my games through NWS, for Matrix games though I find I like the Digital Download and usually go that route direct from Matrix now.

But you can feel safe ordering from NWS, theyre a good outfit.

... this thread only exists because the price of the game is too high.

No, it only exists because some people think the price is too high. The difference is actually quite important, whether you happen to be one of those people or not.
The price IS high. This is not our imagination. Rationalize your purchase any way you want, but don't say we just "think"it is high.

I didn't. Nobody has even disputed that the price is high for a computer game. I said some people think the price is too high, just as some people do not. Both positions are opinions, not exercises in imagination.

Incidently, it's worthy of note that, as far as I can see, none of those who do or did think the game is priced "too high" arrived at that opinion after having paid for and played the game rather than before doing so. I'd suggest that's a situation so rare in the industry it verges on unique.

Now I'll tell you a game worth $80 and that's Red Dead Redemption, but, is it $80? Nope It's on sale at Amazon for $56.99 with free shipping. [:)] Also chanes are it will be a lot less than that in a years time and do you think BftB will be a lot less than $80 in a years time? Nope. Also I know it's coming from some matrix ganboy that it's comparing apples to oranges, but, what I'm comparing is games worth $80. BftB is just not worth $80 in any form shape or policy. It doesn't have the graphics of RDR or the story of RDR or the unlimited poker and other games included in RDR. RDR has to be the best $80 game that doesn't cost $80 to ever be released.
