When taking a break after doing several turns in a row I feel like Hiroo Onoda

My preference is a single-malt from the Isle of Skye, neat, although substitutes are accepted. Sloe Gin with 7 UP, Quetzalteca con Tamarindo ("rum" with tamarind concentrate), Honey Jack Daniels and others make for a more enjoyable (or less painful) turn.

If you have a BIG, important turn coming where you KNOW something will occur, what sort of prep do you as a player make? Do you get a favorite beverige? If so, what? Do you put on Battle Music? If so, what? Do you close and lock the door and declare the Man Cave is a no-fly zone?

I'll usually alert Mrs. Chickenboy. She's familiar with the 'code' by now. "I might have a major carrier battle this turn" is code for her having a luxuriant bath and selecting whatever she wants to watch on TV or listen to. If I'm so equipped, a nice bourbon or Irish whiskey (rocks or neat) will be accompanying me through my turn. [8D]

I usually get a few soft things I can throw without breaking anything. Usually luck turns against me despite my planning, so I'm used to 'BAD' things happening.

Do you get a favorite beverage? Rum & Coke.

Do you put on Battle Music? Carmen

Do you close and lock the door and declare the Man Cave is a no-fly zone? I live in my man cave, surfacing for food that the wife makes and allows me access to [:D]

For me, it really depends on what is about to happen.

I ALWAYS have a cup of Hot Tea. This is a must.

If I know that it SHOULD be a good Japanese turn, I just might have a good glass of wine to sip as I watch and hope to celebrate.

If I know that it SHOULD be an Allied turn, I shift over to a microbrewery beer.

Don't know the why as to the above but I have noticed the pattern.

There is ALWAYS 'battle music.' Have compiled a play list that features large amounts of rockin' movie/TV music: Conan the Barbarian, Crimson Tide, Aliens, Avatar, Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Titanic, Bridge Too Far, Midway, Tora-Tora-Tora, etc...

1945 - Wow.

For properly 'over the top' music for a good turn I suggest Manowar - Battle Hymn. Turns the dial up to 11. I love it.

I'd post a link but I'm not allowed to until my tenth post [:-]

Haven't updated for 4-5 turns and have a bunch of interesting and good screenshots. Haven't really had a reason to complain and I am certain the USN and USAF DO have reason to complain. Been pretty good up in the skies during this time.

Will Post after we get home from church.

January 4-7, 1945

OK. Updating now since the weekend was pretty busy.

The 1.0x10^6, as is now becoming a pattern, did sweeps over southern Kyushu for 5 days and now is moving back towards Formosa. We see sweeps over Nagasaki on the 4th and 6th. The Port is not defended on the 4th as I rested and reshuffled my Fighter units but the Allies are met by over 200 Fighters on the 6th and they get smacked pretty hard. The 5th saw a shift in target as the Allied Fighters hit Fukuoka dealing with about 150 Fighters on CAP. The best part of these days is several carriers strikes with few fighters but nice fat Avengers come in while my CAP is still solid and they get chewed up nicely. The 6th was outstanding when several small Corsair Sweeps did not manage to do much to my CAP prior to B-24 strikes coming in. The initial B-24 attack of 104 planes was met by angry group of over 90 Fighters. We crush over two dozen of the big bombers. Have really managed to continue attriting the USN Fighters. Hellkittens drop and the F4U are quite dangerous but we are still shooting down LOTS of them. The results from the 6th are posted below.

The Allied Fleet is moving away and the Japanese Fighter units immediately begin shifting around, picking up new aircraft, get some R&R, and prep for the next attack. If pattern follows, we should have 6-7 days to prepare for the next set of attacks.

Am highly concerned that the B-29 has not been seen in over 10 days. Have a BAAAAAAAAAAD feeling...

In a rather interesting development, a small strike of 2 SAM and 8 JUDY attack the Allied Death Star. They fly in at 1,000 Ft, penetrate the 1,400+ CAP, and attack CA Pensacola. Three Judy fall to AA but two big 800 Kg bombs SMACK the CA. CAP does not interfere with the withdrawal afterwards.

Interesting...

Yep, this sometimes happens with small groups flying low. Very sweet when it does.

China is about to break wide open for the Allies as the enemy reaches Nanking. Shanghai is slowly being reduced and the two bases between Nanking and Shanghai are captured.

Life is about to become unpleasant as we enter the Central Plains.

NOT good.

I've got a bunch of Chutai that I might be willing to try using this interesting development. Could spread them around Moppo, Fusan, Nagasaki, and other bases on the west side of Kyushu.

On the bright side with China, if Dan decides to continue to assault into the Central Plains, it will occupy him another 6-8 weeks. That gets us to March-April 1945 with the ENTIRE Allied ground force committed there and not anything else vital.

Can currently continue sparring over Kyushu as long as I get these shirt breaks. At some point the defense will begin to collapse but think that is still a ways away. Cannot deny that I am putting a serious hurt on his fighter pilots while fighting over my own bases. That helps to prolong the struggle as well.

As stated earlier, I will be bringing most of the Japanese Fleet home by February 1st. The CVs will be disbanded way up north and the surface assets with be re-tasked to attack. We'll keep the DB and TB back until it looks like the final assault is about to occur. When that happens EVERYTHING goes into the attack.

If I can get to April 1st without a landing on Home Islands soil and am still putting up a spirited fight in the air, I'll consider that a bit of a victory.
