The Dodecanese Islands Aegean Sea
More great news for The Axis Powers, after a campaign lasting more than 2 months all Allied forces have surrendered in The Greek islands, The Aegean is back under Axis control , coming just 2 weeks after the fall of Moscow on the Eastern Front this will give German forces on The Italian Front a tremendous boost in morale.
A combination of resolute tactics and determination saw The Allies overwhelmed leaving them with no choice but to surrender.
Axis Forces consolidate there position in Rhodes as Panzer units enter the islands capital.
More reinforcements arrive on the island of Kos.

Winter weather has hit Europe with full fury but this has not stopped The Allies, enemy bombers struck multiple targets with Luftwaffe air units stretched to there limits attempting to engage enemy incursions across Western Germany.
At Hamburg and Dortmund two large air battles ensued with both sides suffering heavy losses, Air Force Commanders report with growing concern the high losses in our fighter force as they engage The Allied long range fighter escorts that protect enemy bombers, our forces cannot maintain this kind steady pilot losses, attrition at this level has put an enormous strain on our training program.

With events rapidly changing in favour of the Axis Powers these past weeks, the defeat in The Aegean is a bitter blow to the enemy there advance up the Italian mainland coming to a complete halt, due also in part by the winter weather, the enemy seems unable at this time to break The Volturno Line despite there superior numbers on the ground and in the air.
Axis forces able to counter any assaults and are growing stronger by the week with more troops arriving from OKW Command,188.Gebirgs-Division is railed from Austria and now becomes part of LI. Gebirgs-Armeekorps under Gen Feuerstein.
Gen Zeitzler decides to make some operational changes still concerned that the enemy may attempt another seaborne landing, 15th Panzer Division which was refitting on the Adriatic Coast after being severely mauled in the battles at Foggia now comes under direct control of Army Group C as part of a strategic reserve that will be formed, the unit will also move to the town of Lido Di Roma in the coming week.
II / JG 27
While the air activity on both sides was low, JG 27 did make one operational patrol this week and ran into air units from RAF Tactical Air, CAP out on there sweep over Rome ran into enemy recon units, in a brief engagement with the enemy which resulted in no losses to either side, JG 27 was able to counter and eventually force the enemy to abandon its aerial reconnoitre of the Italian capital.

It’s great how you’ve all joined up WITW and WITE2. Wasn’t there a plan to extend WITE2 to all of Europe? It seems a lot of extra work went into WITE2 to prepare for this.

Thank you for the feedback, when WITW came out I believe there was plans for 2 to 3 more games in the seriesRKhan wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:24 pm It’s great how you’ve all joined up WITW and WITE2. WITW 1939 - 41
1939 - 41 North Africa
And then the Grand campaign of 1939 - 45 encompassing all European theatres, I think these were envisioned at some stage but I don't they will come to pass now but we can still dream.

I wonder if it couldn't all be done with with heavy editing of the config files. There's a time I would have tried it myself, as I did with the Civ series, but I no longer have the energy for it.tm1 wrote: Sat Mar 23, 2024 7:19 amThank you for the feedback, when WITW came out I believe there was plans for 2 to 3 more games in the seriesRKhan wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:24 pm It’s great how you’ve all joined up WITW and WITE2. As 4th Armee begins to advance towards Vladimir and Murom Von Keuchler orders 9th Armee to support the attack, XXIII ArmeeKorps operating from Kluchugino fights its way through heavy Forrest, South of this unit XXXXVI Pz Korps strikes at Petushki while LVI Pz Korps links up with the Northern attack cutting off 4 Soviet Corps.
Both Armee's are only 20 miles from Vladimir and Intel reports indicate that the Leningrad Front HQ is based at the town. 9th Armee makes small gains further south pushing back units of The Soviet 9th Army.
The Soviets counter attack but cant halt the 9th Armee offensive
In the Penza region both 3rd Pz Armee and 2nd Armee pause there drive towards the city as reports come in that both the 1st Belorussian and 1st Ukrainian Fronts are massing reinforcements, several Tank Corps have been spotted heading to the front, Kluge has ordered the pause for the time being to get a clearer picture of the enemies numbers and evaluate a plan of attack.
To complicate the situation in the centre 2nd Armee is covering a 260 mile front alone placing enormous pressure on the troops, in the Voronezh sector the Southern wing of the Armee is defending a 150 mile front and the Red Army has gathered 9 Tank Corps supported by large Inf concentrations which may be preparing for some kind counterattack.

The ground attacks by The Allies on our defensive positions caught Commanders by surprised, Gen Balck's LXXXX ArmeeKorps troops defending forward in the Volturno salient taking the brunt of assault, 6 Corps ( US II, VI , Brit V, XIII , XXX and Can 1st ) struck along the river bend with 160 000 men with nearly 900 AfV's hitting Balck's men from both flanks as well as a direct assault, the LXXXX adsorbed the first attack but sheer numbers overwhelmed our lines and forced Balck back, losses were heavy on both sides however the Brit 50th Inf Div and 25th Brit Tank Brigade pushed forward taking vital ground. With this success Bradley US II Corps supported by Crerar's Canadians attacked the right flank of LXXXX ArmeeKorps these attacks failed as were halted by by 5th Pz Armee's HG Panzer Div and the 264th Inf.
At Grazzanise The Allies attacked the towns defenders but were beaten back as units from Hube's Pz Korps and the 12th SS Panzer Div counterattacked, the enemy taking heavy losses in men and Tanks, North of the German salient The Brit XXX Corps launches an attack against our line, 10th Panzer Div plus supporting Inf including Fallschimjaeger's contain the attack here inflicting large causalities, the battles across the front were a close run thing in the end and our line held but the Allies showed they can still fight.
