BBfanboy wrote: Sun Sep 17, 2023 2:53 pm The 232 casualties and 18 squads works out to 12.9 troops per squad. That indicates they are not in really bad shape yet. I monitor that metric to decide when a shock attack is likely to destroy the whole lot while causing few casualties on my side. I use 6-7 men per squad as my decision point.
Very interesting metric! :o

I always used the simple metric of when the damage rotates 100% into destroyed units.

Johore Bahru is tricky, was thinking about sending CD guns there and air dropping mines, but both normally don't work on rivers. Japan will bombard daily....hopefully it is the swan song for those three heavy cruisers. \

Well, if you Bombard Singapore with ships you shouldn't have to worry about 15 inch guns! Just mines and small craft . . .
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Have you ever bombarded Singers? I know the Wake CD guns are elsewhere, but I suspect in a a scenario 2 game there are plenty of CD units available for Japan.

No because the computer gives up on the 1st of January 1943, I am pushing in China and still have Luzon and have retaken the rest of the Philippines . . .

How about bombarding from beyond the range of even 8" (32k?). Use only the main guns on the BB's, with good DL's you should still do a number on the airbase.

Recon by bombing over a few weeks should establish what units are there. I know the game tends to select the units with the most AV first, but there is usually a few aircraft bombing the non-infantry units too.

I'd bombard Sing with a couple of scrub DDs and see what happens. You might be surprised.

Another naval invasion, wipes out 7 enemy units...pretty much done on a shoestring budget...just letting time and a dozen or so bombers work over the defenders for a while. Really not much there, Japan gave up on the Marshalls long ago, and I have been busy with clicks elsewhere.

All:

There is still a ton of IJN shipping at Singers, once I get the turn I will show a graphic. There are 4 heavy cruisers and one light cruiser there too.
