Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Luganville

Japanese Unit(s) Wiped Out at Luganville by attrition!!!

the fight for Luganville felt like taking forever after we took the base quite quickly...

below you can see a tracker screen showing Chinese supply levels... we've opened up the Burma road a couple of turns ago and massive amounts of supplies are flowing to China... as you can see we had one day 9000 tons of supply flowing and just yesterday we had nearly 22,000 tons flowing from Burma into China... soon we will be back up to 250,000 tons of supply in China which is enough to last for a year...

just like I have amazing amounts of supply flowing from Akyab into Burma the supply is then flowing from Burma into China... this has happened in all my AE PBEM since release and I have always either used a latest beta patch or like in this game the latest official patch, so if there is anyone outthere telling me he fails with his Burma offensive because the supply routine is so brilliant that it prevents massive amounts of supply flowing through jungle terrain then I can only repeat once more that this is just not happening in the game and I can prove it with saves, tracker screens and an awful lot of pages of AARs showing my units storming fully supplied through Burma when they come out of Akyab...

oil stocks dropping to 0 is a tracker error, there are still the 70,000+ tons of oil in China, stuck in the Northern bases, only flowing South what is needed...

our troops storm the beaches at Manus that is held by 54th IJA division plus some support units... recon showed some 25,000 enemy troops but I estimate enemy troop strength being only halve of that... two US Inf divisions plus heavy support should take the island rather quickly without suffering too much... having taken Rabaul long ago against more or less no enemy opposition I am quite surprised that we now fight a division on Manus which must have been brought there many months ago already...

Manus is a secondary target, honestly I am only taking it now because I don't want to rush deeper into the SRA as this will just make it more and more discouraging for IJ High Command... this IJ division should have been evacuated and should defend the area North of Timor together with at least five or six more IJA divisions plus support units...

at the same time we unload some rgt and support at the dot base E of Rabaul to march on the trail to Kavieng to take it from estimated 2500-3000 Japanese troops... no opposition from the IJN or IJNAF expected in the operations against Manus and Kavieng...

just like I have amazing amounts of supply flowing from Akyab into Burma the supply is then flowing from Burma into China... this has happened in all my AE PBEM since release and I have always either used a latest beta patch or like in this game the latest official patch, so if there is anyone outthere telling me he fails with his Burma offensive because the supply routine is so brilliant that it prevents massive amounts of supply flowing through jungle terrain then I can only repeat once more that this is just not happening in the game and I can prove it with saves, tracker screens and an awful lot of pages of AARs showing my units storming fully supplied through Burma when they come out of Akyab...
What version are you running? I don't see supplies moving that fast. If we're on the same version I might need to change something!

latest official patch, dunno what version this is though. Has been the same in all the official patches and beta patches I have been using since release so I doubt it has to do with any special version to be honest, it has just been the same all the time, both in WITP and AE.

I build up Akyab (not because of the supply movement but due to it being the most important base for my attack on Burma), move supply into the base (2000 coming over the trail every supply phase). Then my troops (rouhgly 7500 av in this PBEM) move into Burma, are fully supplied all the time, they arrive at Magwe, take the base and while the first day Magwe has 0 supplies, one, two or three days later Magwe jumps up to, let's say 60,000 supplies while Akyab goes down by roughly 70-90,000 supplies, probably because some amount is lost due to supply movement over trails and through unpassable jungle with some of the supply always flowing back to India (isn't that fun?).

Same then goes for Burma - China, I have 200,000 supplies in Burma, mostly at Prome (level 9 airfield) and Rangoon and as soon as the Burma road is open I have days when more than 20,000 tons of supplies are moving into China, usually first sucked directly to Chungking. From there it is distributed to all the bases that are in need, no matter if Liuchow, Changsha, Sian or whatever else base, all receive their supply. Within a month after opening the Burma road I could launch an offensive with the whole China Army because I have enough supplies for the 35,000 Chinese assault value. Same was happening early in the war before I lost Burma, I was bringing as much supply to Rangoon as was possible, to see roughly 150,000 supplies going to China which enabled me to keep my Army supplied there (still gone down by 150,000 tons again within a year due to excessive fort building).

I use the arrows for supply draw when I need it but I think it's more about the HQs sucking it into the area. In Burma, I have of course all available (non restricted) HQs moving with my Army and I have all my Chinese HQs distributed within all my bases so those might be the most important factor, but I have never tested it to be honest. What I do know though is that I have never had any problem supplying all of Burma from Akyab nor China from Burma.

Are you using the supply draw button at all? I'm wondering if my doing this is interfering with that scale of supply movement.

I am using the draw button when it is needed, usually when I have a base that has a very low need by default - when there are only some base forces for example - but I intend to move in my airforce for example. Or at Prome and Rangoon where I want to keep a high level. I also use the draw button in China when needed to increase supply somewhere, then I disable the draw order but set the base to stock supply as it would otherwise flow out again.

Whew! The Bombardments are back on! The poor Allied troops at Clark must have been feeling abandoned . . .[:D]

but in return Manus falls to my troops attacking for the second time today... Manus really was easy and it's the last major stronghold around Rabaul, the Solomons are lightly held (perhaps 7000 IJ troops in total) and the only base on New Guinea that is held by the Japanese somewhat in numbers is Hollandia but there are not even 10000 troops either...

the way the front looks like I guess I could march right to Luzon to face some resistance...

today's intel:

16th Army is located at Babeldaob(90,97).

not uninteresting as Babeldaob is covering the Eastern approach to the SRA and if my troops aim at Mindanao then Babeldaob has to be on the list too... guess there's not only a HQ...

example of my ops losses, another day in nav search wonderland when we lose three patrols and a bomber on nav search... [8|] nav search is more dangerous than actual combat missions and I got no clue why, the bombers are neither flying max range search nor are the pilots fatigued and it has been the same for me since release of this game...
