Indeed, this one is a gem. Have not had much time to follow AARs lately, but this one is a must. Is it only my impression or is Brad's Red Army just falling apart entirely? No reserves, no schwerpunkt, not even the means to counterattack or put pressure on the Axis minors -- i.e. if he is not hoarding reserves in the far East, but why should he with pretty much his southern flank on the run?

Terje, you really did an amazing job turning this around and induced Brad to commit major mistakes that way. It is very impressive to see what a 42/43 Wehrmacht can pull off even after a poor 41. I think you should keep pushing now as hard as you can. This loss ratio is beyond Axis wet dreams for mid 43... Perhaps the chances for an auto-victory are no longer near as slim as you might think?

It depends, I think that a few more turns like I have been having just MIGHT break the back of the bear. We shall see. I never underestimate the comeback power of the USSR though.

Brad gets way less replacements than terje is killing every turn. If the pressure can be kept up, I'm pretty sure this will end in a major axis victory.

Good someone believes in an autovictory [:)]
I am on the "nnnjjaa not so sure, but I sure hope"-side [:D]

Turn 109

Overall
Not too happy with this turn really, although the pockets from last turn held, I miscalculated some MPs, and as a result the pockets formed this turn are far from solid. Two of them Brad can simply walk out of. I am too far from my railheads atm. Before you ask, yes, I do regret disbanding those 3 railroad guys [:D]
One good thing from this turn however is that Brad is more or less emptying his northern flanks of Rifle Corps as he rushes them south, where I get to devour them. I like that [:D]
Also seems Brad is trying to form a new line ahead, but I think it is too little too late. We shall see though.
41 attacks gave a result of 7 helds (5!!! against the same isolated Rifle Corps...), 22 retreats, 4 routs and 8 surrenders this turn.

USSR units in pockets at start of turn
17.

USSR units in pockets at end of turn
24, however 13 can walk to safety and 3 are HQs, so in fact only 8 for sure.

Losses
USSR : 302.000 troops, 4.545 guns, 804 AFVs, 909 AC.
Axis : 27.000 troops, 265 guns, 81 AFVs, 81 AC.

USSR units lost
2 Tank Corps, 5 Rifle Corps, 1 Cavalry Corps, 4 Rifle Divisions, 1 Mountain Division, 3 Tank Brigades, 1 Rifle Brigade, 1 Sapper Brigade.

German units disbanded
19 fortified zones, or the socalled "Fortress Poland" were disbanded this turn.

Partisans hunted down
6.

German pools
Manpower : 162.679
Vehicles : 233.032
Armaments : 470.779
Hiwi : 24.295

Noteworthy
Compare the USSR OOB to the one posted a few turns back

Turn 110

Overall
Well, as expected Brad walked some units to safety, but we keep pushing, and more pockets are formed this turn. Not too sure about one of them though, as I depend on two Hunagrian Tank Divisions to hold. Not gonna happen I think.
48 attacks resulted in 4 helds, 37 retreats, 3 routs and 4 surrenders. I am now having a harder time getting the isolated USSR units to surrender than I am having breaking Brads line. All 4 helds this turn was against isolated units, with deliberate attacks I might add...

USSR units in pockets at start of turn
7.

USSR units in pockets at end of turn
21, but 7 will probably break free.

Losses
USSR : 189.000 troops, 3.077 guns, 365 AFVs, 633 AC.
Axis : 29.000 troops, 251 guns, 97 AFVs, 83 AC.

USSR units lost
2 Rifle Corps, 1 Cavalry Corps, 1 Rifle Division.

German units disbanded
1 Fortified Zone.

Partisans hunted down
6.

German pools
Manpower : 171.334
Vehicles : 238.556
Armaments : 489.888
Hiwi : 33.454

I'd suggest pushing straight up, as he doesn't seem to want to dislodge the line. So just stop the drive towards east and eat his line up...a massive encirclement seems possible with a two pincer attack towards Tula, however, it would require a turn or two to set up.

gonna give u a cool advice as u seem to have alot of ap´s.

Release Flak regs from towns to OKH. they cost 50 ap each. Germany have 25 of em and will cost u a total of 1250 to relocate to front. Time to move all canons that can kill the communists that stand againt the mighty german panzerball!

Each flak reg consists of
128 88mm AA guns
71 20-37mm automatic antiaircraft guns.

They will increase your AA defences and antitank fire. They are at least 4-5 times as strong as your AA bats and also gives you more support units at the front (germany dont have 6 to each corps command). I would allocate 1 to each PZ army HQ and 1 to each panzer corps HQ and the rest (about 10) to the souther front inf corps HQ´s where they have higher chanse to defend againt tanks (88! :) )

Yeah, its very strange that in many places he seems so unwilling to retreat (although if he does retreat there is no way he will have the strength to get that much back, so maybe there is a certain logic) - he would really lose nothing but empty plain by retreating back towards Tula.

That is some serious "I really have tried everything in this game" advice. What kind of CV value do they provide when directly attached to a unit?

Not really, his frontline is too solid on the E/W line, so attacking through that line with panzers is more likely to kill precious Pz IVs of which I am allready desperately short I fear.
Just my "feel" of the game though.

Nice tip. Will start to implement it when I do the next turn in 10 mins [&o]

He will lose his level 3 forts, which means I can use my infantry allready on the line to follow up and dislodge him. I think that would speed up his losses actually.

Turn 111

Overall
None of the pockets were broken, and they were all eliminated after the obligatory held results at first. Also formed two new pockets, and turned the eastwards attack to the north, but parallell and further to the east than the other line of attack. This might result in a decent pocket next turn, if not it will force Brad to give up alot of land for nothing.
Some Flak Regiments were released this turn, and yes, they were indeed expensive, but as pointed out, my point need is not really that big, although I did switch some panzers between various PzA/PzCs this turn.
69 attack this turn for a result of 9 helds (at times it feels like I am fighting the IJA, not the Red Army), 41 retreats, 4 routs and 15 surrenders.

USSR units in pockets at start of turn
21.

USSR units in pockets at end of turn
7.

Losses
USSR : 310.000 troops, 5.092 guns, 803 AFVs, 626 AC.
Axis : 33.000 troops, 299 guns, 91 AFVs, 116 AC.

USSR units lost
1 Tank Corps, 5 Rifle Corps, 1 Cavalry Corps, 10 Rifle Divisions, 4 Tank Brigades.

German units disbanded
None.

Partisans hunted down

Glad to hear you are going north and planning to encircle forces north of you. Going further east,no matter how tempting is a mistake in my opinion. Tula and Tomboy are within reach Voronezh is ripe to fall as well. So where are we at regarding victory points now?

Once you are in Tula then Moscow comes on the radar horizon.

On a bad note its the start of August 43' now, when does the enforced panzer reorganization take place? September? Going to be a wild 4-10 turns coming up. Worst case scenario those fortified areas you have created may come in handy.
