Clark AFB falls...will finish cleaning up Luzon and then think about the rest of the Philippines.

Fighter production has caught up and replenished all frontline fighter squadrons, A6M3 squadrons are now at Truk and Bangkok. A6M8 should arrive in October sometime. Nicks are a game changer at defending against B17...7 beasts destroyed this day.

Ambon's forts are lessened to 2...should fall shortly. One 7 vp IJN xak sunk there.

2 Heavy volume of radio intercepts at Anchorage, Umnak Island is almost totally overbuilt..the Allies are building fast towards the Kuriles.

Dorniers still present a threat:

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Balikpapan at 64,97

Weather in hex: Partial cloud

Raid spotted at 35 NM, estimated altitude 13,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 16 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 4

Allied aircraft
Do-24K-2 x 2

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
xAK Kanko Maru, Torpedo hits 1

Aircraft Attacking:
2 x Do-24K-2 launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 2 x 21in Mk VIII Torpedo

You are going very slow in this game . . . [8|]

I am not sure how I could go much faster without really suffering lots of losses without really abusing the AI. Pax might know how.

I might be able to amphibiously invade Burma and grab Magwe...which I didn't think possible when I started the game. It would be nice to destroy all the Allied troops in Burma. Depends how fast I can clean up Java.

Final elements of 1st and 2nd Tank Divisions arrive in a day or two in Korea. They will be shipped to Java/Burma to combine and be present for the Burma operation. Normally they go to Hong Kong and drive north to Chungking.

Faster:
Against the AI, not that easy to do and not break the AI.
Faster to most PBEM players means a deep landing, encircle, and destroy. It works very well against the AI, sufficiently so that you can end the game by mid-42 if that is your goal.
EX: Taking either/both Karachi and Pearl Harbor will end the game amazingly fast. A human can adapt, but the AI cannot, at least how the scripts are currently written. Technically you might be able expand to cover these, but then the AI gets very long and involved, and of course testing is very, very time consuming …

Against the AI, to keep the game going you need to be methodical and continue a line of expansion until its end, or be prepared to withdraw. Either way. The middle choice is also where the AI can struggle.
EX: Going south in the DEI and stopping at Ternate. If you stop there, a script might continue to fire trying to take back Ternate, but with insufficient force, continuously, until the AI is dead. (This one does not exist, at this time in this scen, but I hope you can follow the concept). If you continue through Ambon to Darwin, then all is well. the script is dead and won't come back until Darwin is freed, but that is another script using different force ratios. Then later when the new move north script fires, it will be using MUCH bigger force ratios.
It's all about the script writer, what he thinks the player will do and what he can do against him.

Ambon falls, and lots of enemy planes are left on the runways.

I suspect either damaged or not enough supply for DT's and had no place to move to … the AI is actually pretty good at moving planes in danger ...

Some naval actions in the Kuriles, south of Ambon, and at Lae have finally knocked down the Allies Major Victory to Minor!

Not a complaint, merely an observation. Maybe the Japanese side needs a little tweeking in some areas be it more supply and/or more aircraft built or higher production. I don't understand why the Kate factory has to be built up since they were already in production.

Let's See:
2:1 in AC losses. Quite good, and now that your fighter production has caught up, it should improve a bit more depending upon how much you produce of this gen of fighters … the AI should still be ok yet.

5.5:1 in Naval loss pts (4:1 in in ships). Quite good, even in Ironman, these losses will be telling in what the AI can do going forward … a lot depends upon the ship types lost and what the scripts need. If a ship type is not available, that's where the issue usually shows first, not total ships.

20:1 Army loss. Good and about normal. AI should still be in good shape.

Economy.

I have expanded my naval builds a bit.

I have kept my vehicle product on the lowish side.

I have not really been running around all over with the IJN.

I am building all ships (even merchants). Accelerating some CVs as points allow.

I have had to spend a lot on rebuilding oil and some shipyards. Not rebuilding anything else generally speaking.

My Manchuko garrison is strong really only pulled some engineers out.

China is much quieter than normal.

I think I will move some troops into Mindanao, I fear it might be causing the Allies to throw some ships away.

I have one AD at Manus, and I built the airfield up to size 3. The AD can repair system damage from destroyers making fast transport missions into Umboi and rearm torpedoes...I am sending a second there to speed the repairs up. AOs are keeping everyone fed.

I really enjoy using the funnies...I generally make lots of them. It is nice to eventually have 5+ ARs acting as emergency repair yards in some small port in the SRA by fuel...a place I generally use a lot of flank speed runs, or small skirmishes with SAGs set to low threat.

A look at the damaged oil wells. Boela is simply getting pounded by beasts, but they rotate their target from oil to port to runways to ships. The Rufes can barely keep up.

A lot of supply spent on engine production this month. A lot.

When you don't resize air squadrons filling out the CV are very difficult. For the most part this is a very welcome development.

Oh … that's looking tight on supply. You must be down to ~250K or less in Tokyo …
Everything else looks pretty good ...

Yep, one of the very best dates in '42 in every game … getting rid of those undersized groups.

The worst is over, as oil wells are building from Palembang now and the great engine program (primarily for A6M8) is over. This is new to me, as I never really built the A6M8 before (except in one pdu off game).

I make Nagasaki the supply hub for the empire, rather than Tokyo early on.

AI rarely ever attacks oil centers, luckily for you it is Boela, not Palembang!

Yes, the AI could use help in how they use their planes.

Sadly, nothing can be done in the scripts that I know of ...
