I didn't note where this took place during the replay, but Shanghai makes sense as it's the only place where we have flak and enemy troops are present. We will put up some LRCAP (Shanghai air base is still repairing). Our troops at Shanghai are recovering well and probably after one more day of rest will begin rotating attacks to hasten securing the city.

Fortifications remained intact, but we did take a bite out of the defenders' AV. Two divisions just arrived and did not attack. Tomorrow the other division and one armored unit will rest while all remaining units attack.

Kagoshima is quiet except for air strikes, and those are now being diverted to Nagasaki/Sasebo. The terrain at and east of Kagoshima renders air strikes marginally effective anyway.

Home Islands east. I've determined that there is presently only one British carrier without an air group: CV Formidable at Hong Kong. There are five FAA carrier groups on land, three TB groups in China and two fighter groups at Colombo. The Martlets at Colombo are making their way to Hong Kong but will take several days due to short transfer range. They will upgrade and resize once on board. The invasion will not wait for Formidable, but transports will not begin loading for two more days just to give the convoys in the East China Sea a little more cover, and give other ships a little more time to repair. So far almost all air cover for HI invasions has been borne by USN carriers, but this time there will be full commitment of RN carriers in addition to all available USN carriers. Those RN carriers that have been operating in USN TF will be moved into RN TF.

Our subs are conducting secret activities.

China Outback. A base force is almost to Hami to repair the base and then support bombers. To the south can be seen a cavalry unit that will provide infantry support at Urumchi in case the armour (with air support) cannot defeat the invaders before the cavalry arrives. To the west of Urumshi is the second armoured unit still making its way back from toppling the corrupt Imperial-imposed administration at Kashgar.

China frontier. The Chinese Air Force managed to lose 10 precious P-51D on ground attack by going after distant, well protected units when their assigned targets were destroyed yesterday.

We had 1,907 AV yesterday versus 1,940 AV today before the attack, still good recovery. Let's see if that keeps up. Some units will be moved out to recover as they are liabilities for time being, some will rest, and others are ready to keep attacking. Tomorrow's assault is certain to achieve poor odds and maybe lopsided casualties but will keep up the presssure. The two largest formations - the two divisions - will be among those resting tomorrow and attacking the following day. The heavy defender casulties today are very encouraging and signal turning a corner.

Home Islands west. More of the same night action by the Empire but our boys escape harm.

Kumamoto: One of those divisions partially delivered has now been fully delivered and is moving out. The air base is still building smartly.

Recon of Fukuoka shows 2 units, 4,420 troops, 24 guns, and 7 AFV. Our forces just arrived there include a division and 7 armored units, with more arriving tomorrow but mo need to wait, the first assault is on for tomorrow. The objective is to clear the city ASAP and then clear the hex just SE of Fukuoka to trap all remaining Imperial units on Kyushu. Fukuoka itself has a garrison requirement of 240 AV, so we will have to leave a division there at first.

Nagasaki/Sasebo defenders had 530 AV yesterday.

Home Islands east. Two more hops for the FAA fighters to make Hong Kong, but as mentioned the invasion will start out without Formidable. The USN fleet carriers and a number of surface combat TF are heading back to Okinawa to replenish.

Better results than expected. The unit destroyed yesterday we now know was the 9th RF Gun Battalion. We rotate attacking units as planned for tomorrow.

Home Islands west. At Kumamoto another size of airfield built, now 6 + 2%. A troop convoy just arrived in the harbor and two more to arrive tonight, one of them a full division. Takamatsu has built the airfield complex to size 8, doubling air support and allowing us to bring in another 4 fighter squadrons. Tomorrow 4x P-47D25 and 3x P-47N squadrons will join the Hiroshima/Kure sweepers, plus 2x more P-47N squadrons from Kochi.

All of the armored units, including the two that just arrived, will speed to the SE to impede enemy movement. The division must remain as garrison (and has only about enough AV to do the job: 259 vs 240), but there are two more divisions on the way, and when the first of them catch up to the armor attacks will commence to clear that hex.

Nagasaki/Sasebo defenders had 412 AV yesterday.

Today's results were poor odds compared to expectations, possibly due to so many air strikes diverting to sweeper duties over Hiroshima/Kure. They just couldn't let the fighters have all the fun. The infantry and armor which attacked - all but one unit of each - are highly disrupted and must rest to recover. The infantry and armor unit that rested today will attack tomorrow. All the relevant air groups have been retasked (many already did hit the right target) and so should ease the way.
