If those were 1k bombs, then Hiyo, Akagi & Ryuho will likely be lost. Shoho is a maybe.

I have lost a fleet IJN carrier to 2 of them before... Unless they can put in & stop the fires somewhere close by, their damage control is atrocious. Of course depends on where they got hit. Last time I lost Akagi it burned for 5 days in the middle of the Pacific. Watching the SYS damage creep up because of the fires was... not so fun...

Funny that you mention that. In one of the earlier WWII's there was a long story line about Yossarian on Flores...or maybe it was Milo...or maybe Cpt Ito...and living 20th Century Hobbits. Not sure there is any way to find it now. IF I had to guess it may have been WWII(c)

JanSako...you work at the White House, right? I have a "business opportunity" for the "Big Guy". It's a 2nd order derivative on Pu 240 put options. Can't miss. Can you get me in?

And, yes, they were 1000 lbr's. That's why I sent the USN carriers into the Java Sea............

Yes, a legitimate question. I often ask myself what happened to all my "free time". Most of it has been consumed by work. All of medical support infrastructure has been weakened by COVID and now employers are raiding other employers for help. Not enough psychotherapists. Not enough physical therapists. Not enough speech therapists. Not enough neuropsychologists. Not enough neurologists. Not enough RN's. Not enough LVN's. Oddly, not enough ophthalmologists. It is also true that medical practice corporatization comes with a price. Some pencil pusher decided the best way to save money is have the doctors do all the work. Also, there are babies all over the place now. The baby making machine was turned off during COVID and now it is back on.

We have a mandated screening for post partum depression now. In fairness, I have to admit the problem is more prevalent than I would have guessed because most moms don't volunteer the information.

Hilariously, a dad brought a 4 month old in for a well visit and the staff gave HIM the form.

Q: "I often feel hopeless"..........A: "hmm, shit no"

Q: "I find myself crying for no reason".........A: "that seems stupid, no"

The guy put zero on every question

I disappeared into the wilderness of Wyoming and Montana for a while. Each fish cost $98 and it was catch and release. When I got back to a spot with a cell signal my phone went off with text messages for about 30 minutes. Emails saying "4th request" and crap like that. That is ENTIRE POINT of going into the wilderness.

Stayed at the Jackson Lake Lodge outside of Grand Teton. Fantastic dining room with views of the Tetons (which basically means "tits" in French). Got locked out on the balcony in the cabin and nobody answered at the main desk so we had to call the restaurant and some nice lady with a Japan-womans accent laughed when she understood the problem but did find someone at the desk to let us in. SG gave him a $50 tip to keep quiet

Gastronomic insights:

Elk sausage tastes like Buffalo sausage tastes like Beef sausage

Elk tenderloin with huckleberry sauce is REALLY good. There is a place in Jackson that makes homemade huckleberry ice cream for $7 a cone but it is REALLY good.

Political insights:

Our rafting guide is a commie but we still gave her a good tip which she promptly did not share with the other guides.

We went to a quarterly bonus system for productivity so it occurred to me to bunch the vacation time and to go on more vacations. Not sure what I was thinking the last two years. I think everyone was trying to not abandon their colleagues.

Anyway, the idea is to dip below the productivity bonus level in one quarter and then turn it on the next. There is another meta-hack. When your productivity dips below your salary level for one fiscal year they lower your salary but the productivity credit rate to meet salary minimum is LOWER than the productivity credit rate for bonus so you bunch your vacation time in one fiscal year, deliberately get your salary reduced and then turn on the jets in the next quarter. I'm turning into a Gen Z employee.

I am glad that you are doing okay.

Your guide did is not really a commie if she did not share the bonus!

If you want to relax and enjoy a nice out of the way place with nice beds, consider renting a houseboat at this place where there is plenty of water! There are also land based resorts.

https://www.nps.gov/voya/index.htm

If you go after Labor Day (which is really when the babies should be in the process of being born) it is cheaper to rent a houseboat. After a frost, there are fewer mosquitoes. In fact, at the end of September and the beginning of October (it is hard to catch the exact time each year) you may enjoy colorful leaves along the shoreline with dark pines away from the lakes on the hills.

If someone is disabled, a little farther East is a resort that caters to them. It is near the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area (BWCA) which abuts Quetico Provincial Park in Big Canada Land.
