Situation in Ohio.
I am sending Johnston and Early to capture some minor provinces. All captured provinces take 2 money out of nmleague's pocket.

I try musters in Columbus and Cleveland, but I am affraid they'll fail because of unrests.

In Tennessee two Union armies have enter under my troops. Jackson moved only to Sparta from Appalachia and luckily didn't reach Bowling Green where he was supposed to move. I let him stay in Sparta and reinforce his supplies.

Also I split Lee's army and take the other corps container out. Johnston is commanding this corps and he moves to Knoxville to block Union retreat route. I let Union armies to consume his supplies before I start my attacks in the next turn.

I Arkansas my troops failed to engage Union army. 17th division didn't move anywhere from Ozarks and Cavalry division moved to Fayetteville. Union army managed to move two provinces from Fayetteville to Black River. I move my both division to Black River to engage it. But how come it shows 64657 for the enemy strength? Has he gotten reinforcements there? I don't believe it. It must be a false report.

Income situation leaves much to hope for. I am forced to reduce diplomacy spendings to break even.
Remember that I did a lot of musters that dropped population levels and thus lowered city incomes. They should be replenished next turn.

Early April 1862

New turn and new tricks. Victory points and National Will look good [:D]

Small battle in Dayton... have to see what was there.

Oh... that Black River report wasn't a false one after all. Looks like I took a bad beating there. Luckily I didn't lose any brigades.

Then comes the really nice news. It turned out to be a good choice to leave Jackson to rest in Sparta. Union army tried to return through it and ran into a stonewall. Jackson forced 4 Union brigades to surrender with minimal friendly casualties. Well done Jackson.

Second page for the event report. Second round of musters was partly successful. Longstreet became available. Lets see if I can find a post for him.

And here's the report of the battles. I lost some weapons in Black River but managed to gain some back in Dayton and in Sparta.

In Ohio it seems that huge Union Army is coming from Indianapolis. I quickly move Early's and Johnston's division safe to south. They both are little bit worn out so it's time to reinforce them. Both Columbus and Cleveland are on their own now. Three brigades are defending Columbus and one is defending Cleveland. I'll come back later. Meanwhile I try to muster brigades in them.

In Arkansas 17th Division is sent to Tennessee-Mississippi river and Cavalry division is sent to Arkansas River. My offensive in here is over for awhile. I have to settle for a draw here. A minor setback in my operations.

In Tennesee the situation is very good for me. Last turn Union tried to move thru Sparta to Kentucky. Jackson was standing in Sparta to intercept the Union army. He also called Johnston's corps to aid him. Together they beat the Union army (or armies) back to Chattanooga. Now it's very weak and it is my turn to attack. Lee moves to Nashville to cut his retreat to east. Jackson goes to Murffesboro(?) to block his retreat route to west. Johnston takes his coprs directly to the center. One of my corps will meet him in the battlefield and we will be victorious.

Income situation after population boost is much better again so I am able to invest into diplomacy again. Actually this is the most that I have invested during this game. There haven't been many targets for my runners so I hope this will fix it.

During last couple turns I have started 2 RR stations, 1 mint and 1 infantry brigade. Infantry brigade was started in Georgia, where I did't do any musters. This was done before the population boost. This infantry brigade should be in good strength and with good quality when it arrives. If it will arrive as a legendary brigade, then I will definatelly put it into my elite division.

Runners were set (only two targets were available):
65M 50/10 (this was my target in previous turn as well)
65W 60/30 (Union fleet in the same hex.. risky business)

Late April 1862

Union started to siege Cleveland. My casualties are bit high, so I don't think the 2500 men brigade will hold long. How ever last turn I started to muster new brigade. Let's see if I can put it into the city.

Both sides got their first upgrades.

Next page of the event report. Looks like we hit the jackpot.

Enemy tried to avoid battle in Chattanooga, but failed and my two corps engaded them. Johnston called Jackson's corps help and together they smashed two union armies. Already last turn 4 Union brigades surrendered. This turn we got 21 brigades to surrender us. We lost only minor casualties. The morale of the enemy must have been very weak. Without supplies and ammunition they had lost the will to fight.

Two empty army containers and five empty division containers were removed. There's no more armies to threat us in the Kentucky-Illinois area. Next we can push up into the Kentucky and Ohio. Notice that my musters in Ohio were successful. Now I can further reinforce their garrisons.

Two RR stations, camp and barracks come available for us. Barracks is especially needed so I can build more corps containers.

We lose our second blockade raider so far. I hadn't lost a single one before this game, now I have lost two during this game.

Victory for The Confederate States of America

Post by TimoN »

Latest news have arrived from Washington: President Lincoln has resigned from the office and an open rebellion has started in northern states. Union armies have lost the will to fight and massive amount of men have abandoned their weapons and are walking back to their homes. Peace talks have been initiated and no doubt CSA will dictate the terms of peace.

Enemy has surrendered! CSA is victorious! [:D][:D][:D]

Epilogue: nmleague was first time playing with the advanced rules and I hadn't yet learned some aspects of changes to the game it brought. Especially the supply requirement for troops came bit surprise for him and lead to the defeat of his armies. After losing Ohio and two of his armies he felt that he's not in a position to continue this game. That's understandable after such huge defeat. Basically whole north is completely open for my invasion. If anyone wants to object that, feel free to contact me and we can continue the game from this point.

Lessons learned: Never leave your towns without defenses and your troops without supplies.
