My sieges in Little Rock, Frankfurt, and against Cairo gain little ground with the defenses barely reduced and casualties high.
I finally get my first upgrade. (Maybe I should have invested more in tech?) I choose Target Practice and it helps when the AoT again faces off against the Union 4th Army. The result is what you would expect as my troops lay another wollop on him.
Again my runners do a tremendous job and this turn get me a bunch of horses. Gen Johnson and the newly formed 18th division earn their pay and move against 4 loose brigades in West Tennessee and take their surrender. Meanwhile the AoT, under the brilliant command of General Ewell, attacks the Union of Illinois and whittles it down to nothing.
I order General Zolicoff and the AoA to continue the siege of Little Rock. I also order General Early to move the 14th division to crush what is left of the Union’s 4th Army.
I order Genral Johnson and the 18th division to move to the Lower Tennessee River while General Ewell and the AoT moves to finish off the Army of Illinois.
The East reforms.
Economically I am doing okay but money and everything is still tight. I order a couple of camps in out of way places and another infantry from New Orleans. I would love to afford some artillery, but it is far to expensive.
Meanwhile the Siege of Cairo continues and the US army of Illinois is poised to surrender. It looks like the West is pretty well won all I have to do is not loose it.
I order General Johnson and the 18th to finish of the Union Army Illinois while the AoT moves into Illinois. The bad news is I loose one of my runners that will have to be rebuilt, but at the moment I don’t have enough money. I decide to back off my diplomacy for a while in order to get the money to get that runner. Meanwhile my one runner in the atlantic can’t find anything to do.
Yes, I have been very pleased with the turn around in the West. Unless the Union has an army hiding in Missouri it appears that West of the Mississippi will soon be clear. That with the addition that the Army of Illinois has been beaten back and surrounded means that I appear to be doing very well after it looks like things were pretty dim. (I admit however, to a paranoia that the Union has some large army north of me that I can't see that is ready to swoop down and get me.)
As far as National Will and Victory points I don't have a screencap, will get one later, but you would really be surprised. All the battles have been relatively small with I think most casualties on one side being around 9000. This means my National will has not really gone up. As it stands now I am at +5 VP to the Union's -4. The Union has a National Will of 0 and I have a National Will of +1.
