RE: 12/20/1941... Plans Plans Plans...
If you are like me, you will have to break another trait from playing stock - Panama. I have had to plan ahead when it comes to sending the large amount of AP/AK's from Australia and points to the west to take the lower channel to Panama. You get significant reinforcements there, but not enough shipping to move them. [;)]

Hmm a good point you make here. Well I thought of moving supplies via Panama to some extent, but as you have said as a stock player I need to get used to it and the fact that many reinforcements arrive there might be a nuissance (same as Aden)... However Panama has been included to my plans.
I will have to think about moving some ships in there as you suggest.[:)]

RE: 12/21/1941... Ryujo and Zuiho...
Gents,
our Navy is one the move. Lexington and Enterprise are sailing towards Palmyra to later jump base by base to the Fiji region for a while. We need to take the risk of sending them there since the chain to OZ is still a very weak one. What can be seen in today's Jap landings in Nanumea and their sinking by carrier planes the wreck of CL Achilles. The planes were probably sent from the CVL Ryujo that Achilles along with Leander engaged a few days earlier. However B-17s have reached Suva today.

Japs have also landed in Gasmata, cutting off the possible retreat route of our forces fighting Jap invasion in Rabaul. Our Mine Laying TF is moving to Lunga to mine the place. First remnants of the PI merchant fleet are reaching Cairns and Townsville.

Our B-17s stationed in Darwin are slowly beginning to take Amboina as the target for their bombs. The AF is planned to be bombed from air in the upcoming days. Supplies are being sent to Koepang and even some land units are planned for the base. CVL Zuiho and maybe CVE Shoho are are situated E of Manado sinking our merchants evacuating from PI.

That would be all for today.
And I have a small question concerning A2A vs Jap planes, it seems that I can't find the right altitude for my fighters... some advice would be appreciated.[:)]

When you get it, please pass it on. [:D]
You might consider placing a Seaplane Tender (AV/AVD) and a PBY Squadron along with a small AK with supplies up in one of those two small islands where you lost the CL and where his CVL is at. This would serve as an early warning of incoming raids. [;)] [;)]

I get good results with 70% - 90% CAP at 25,000 ft plus. If using P-39s have them at 22,000 ft with better planes at 25000 ft plus. If you have two types flying CAP, always have the better one between 2000ft and 5000ft higher. Once you get radar it really works well. Early on fighting zeroes hurts, but you chew up his pilot pool faster than he can chew up yours. This attrition battle pays dividends in late 42 onwards when he will be really hurting for pilots and you start to get better planes for your Aces. Try to ambush his unescorted bombers as the bomber pilots come out of the same pool as his fighters.

RE: 12/22/1941... What's that over the hill??
Gents, we have spotted two Japanese fleets W of Kuching sailing in different directions. One of them marked by us as LF-1 probably sails for Palembang and the second one marked as LF-2 is probably going for Pontianak.

The coming days will show their true destination.
Japs are pulling reinforcements to Rabaul where almost 10000 of them is fighting our small force, with no success so far but we are afraid that our soldiers will have to surrender soon.
We lost track of the Japanese CVLs, they are probably on the way to Palau to replenish fuel and supplies.
Now our two CVs are reaching Palmyra, CV Yorktown that has just arrived at Panama is steaming towards SF.

RE: 12/23/1941... The Fall of Rabaul...
Gents, as we have suspected Rabaul got captured today by the enemy. That is not a good piece of information since the enemy will locate some bombers and fighters over there... and probably move for Lae and later capture Tulagi <which we are about to mine in two days time>[:D]
We still continue to bombard Amboina a fresh and ready for action Squadrons of B17s were transferred to Darwin today to let the old units rest after their fights in the PI region and regain very low morale.
From the Borneo news:
Japs landed in Singkawang. We thought that they will choose Pontianak but oh well we were wrong and the destination of LF-2 was the earlier mentioned Singkawang. Due to bad weather over Batavia we couldn't get our planes to bomb enemy ships.
LF-1 is steaming for Palembang and so far has been hit by our planes from Singapore <where our Buffs got slaughtered by the enemy[:@]> and Johore Bahru. We hit a few transports and two Jap CA's but those two probably didn't get more damage. No fires or whatsoever were sighted by our pilots.

Now in China we reached the city of Nanchang and we are going to attack it tommorow, the opposition should be light according to our recon but our recon might be wrong. And anything can happen. A brief overlook:

And the situation between PH and Palmyra where our CVs are stationed awaiting order to steam to the South towards Canton Isl.

That would be all for today.

RE: 12/24/1941... I hate recon :)
Gents, Singkawang has fallen to the enemy, our air strikes concentrated on some damn BBs and CAs not even trying to hit the LF-2 Transports. I sometimes hate our pilots[:@]
Anyways, LF-1 got a visit from the air not once today but with no luck, however we manaed to torpedoe two troop transports W of Palembang

What ofcourse did not stop Japs from unloading the 16th Div at Palembang. I think that he was expecting some serious opposition in the place but oh well we're still trying to reinforce Java since this is going to be our main hold in the region. Supplies, Fuel and troops are slowly starting to reach the island.

Next thing that actually made me do this
was the God damn Chinese recon %&$#%^@ which informed us that only 2k troops are present in Nanchang and guess what...

That would be all gents...

RE: 12/24/1941... I hate recon :)
Wauhh !!! Don´t trust more about chinese recons !!.. Take care with DL, the bombers have only a limited capability. I advise you take a more conservative line of action at China Front, could be dangerous take the offensive with chinese troops with no a overwheelming force. Gather your main forces (the best corps with arty) at Changsha, fort and await him.. When he will exhaust, then would be the momment to begin a counterstrike

RE: 12/25/1941... KB Sighted at PH!!!!
Gents, after a small break from the war we're back in business....
First all we have some bad news and I mean bad! KB has been sighted near Pearl Harbor. Thanks God for the bad weather. AO Neosho with escorts had been attacked by enemy planes, all ships are damaged and I doubt that they will make it, Neosho's fuel is on fire but the ship has not suffered any torpedo hits so it can sail almost at full speed. Fast ships located in Pearl including CV Lexington had been ordered to sail N at full speed. All transports that were to reach PH changed course for Panama and are going to sail in that direction till Japs leave. Good that most of the damaged ships on December 7th steamed from PH 3 days ago, however 5 BBs are still present in the port. All planes have been ordered to enagage the enemy.

Neosho

Now some Malaya and Sumatra News.
Palembang has fallen to the enemy today. In the mean time one of our subs managed to sneak into the harboor and torpedo an enemy transport. But Gents... our brave pilots from Singapore managed to torpedo two enemy warships CA Chokai and BB Kongo.

Kongo

Chokai
No significant events in other parts of the theatre...

RE: 12/25/1941... KB Sighted at PH!!!!
Great news about getting torpedoes into some of his large capital ships. [:D]
How did he sneak past your PBY's stationed on Midway, Johnson Island, and Pearl??
Afterwards, you will need to upgrade a PBY squadron on Pearl to Coronados. It may not be much, but I'll take the extra few hexes of search radius.
2 side notes - don't forget that you can upgrade your Aussie Buffalo squardon to Hurricanes. If you are like me, the number of Buffalo's destroyed are high.
I just found out from my game vs AI (1/12/42) that I have an Indian squardon of recon planes (Squadron #1 of Lysander I) that can be upgraded to Hurricanes also. [;)] Their experience is only in the upper 40's, but I need more fighters.

Oh yes they are just being shot like these guys were...

I was planning to upgrade them but last turn but I lacked some supply at Batavia. We shall see this turn since it's being shipped and a RAF Air HQ also is being shipped to the region.

RE: 12/26/1941... KB still near PH!!!
Gents, KB is still lurking near PH, today Johnston Island has been bombed by the enemy. At least we know the position of some of his carriers except for the KB one CVL is located S of Samarinda and probably another one in Tarakan.
In the New Guinea region the enemy has located Betty Bombers at Rabaul that conducted a small raid against Port Moresby. Fighting still takes place in Kavieng. So far we managed to hold the place.

More to the NW in Java the Dutch are getting ready for defense. From Perth the 13th Australian Brigade is boarding transports that will take it to the Island in order to reinforce it. In two days time supplies and a RAF HQ will also reach Java.

We also have some good news concerning our air strikes from Batavia against enemy shipping in the region. Our two waves of planes managed to damage many transports near Palembang. This is how it looked.

First Wave of planes approaches...

..scores some hits...

... and the second wave also managed to hit a few ships...

RE: 12/27/1941... Zuiho and Shoho attack Bali!
Gents, after two days of hospitalization I'm back to keep on fighting.
Ok so let us begin. Japanese CV TF keeps attacking Johnston Island but seems to be sailing away to the W and maybe:
A)Return
B)Attack routes to OZ
C)Move to SRA
D)Hell, I don't know
Since we are discussing the Carriers... Zuiho and Shoho attacked Bali, South of Java. Bad weather stopped our planes from attacking the enemy.
Here's the Situation at Batavia nad Soerabaja.

And now a small question... either something mixed up in my head with the fact that 20k supplies at a base is needed and I have the ABDA HQ at Batavia... I still cannot upgrade my Buffs to Hurries... ok ok I know that 20004 supplies is just 4 above the needed but it keeps to puzzle me... so if anyone knows, please respond.
From other news we managed to sneak some supplies to Koepang and evac some Australians from Singapore to Java... the air units that is.
That would be all.

You can not upgrade CW aircrafts until May 1942 !, then you must to fight with your Buffs. For the other hand... could be more interesting to transfer ABDA HQ to Soerabaja ?.
