Well, this discussion has boiled (pun!) into the realm of fairly academic, so I'm assuming that by that time, they will have worked out all the issues.

Certainly, I'm not the one suggesting 2029-2079 will be when this all occurs. Just saying that it will happen at some point in the future. (Of course, Kurzweil has top-secret clearance and works with the DoD and CIA. So, he has an inkling of computing power available in those environments -- and he is working awfully hard to stay alive until 2029 so that he can see it for himself.)

The more interesting question, though, goes from: can a computer AI beat you in a wargame? to will a computer AI with that much processing power have capabilities equal to humans in terms of free will and other spiritual questions? That's why I loved the Matrix movies -- because it mixed many of those questions among the various car chase sequences [&o]
