Here is the Russian front.
I refrained from using engineer too much.
But with my good Marine Corp's training... cannot resist amphibious assaults.
Don't know if it will help..but why play the same every time.

While few men,legislators or otherwise,
have felt downthe years they could command ships of the line or marshall air armies without specialized training, almost
any fool has felt in his heart that he could command a regiment.

Curse Hitler and his impetuosity......apparently Barbarossa coincides with a previously unknown major Japanese offensive, which upsets the Americans who cut off our oil supplies....

The Emperor commands that the forces of the Empire of Japan must make more effort to destroy the Chinese resistance now that war with the USA is inevitable.......the new tanks and army dive bombers are much in evidence in the ensuing attacks.

Sian and some of the new American factories are captured by Imperial forces - hordes of conscripts cannot withstand the Samurai spirit....is the end China in sight? Will America come to its rescue??!!

Tune in for the next thrilling instalment....same place....same time....next move!!

Combination Russia/China turn finished and sent to Giacomo.

Russian counterattacks at Riga and Gomel are clumsily organized, and fail to dislodge either. The Riga bridgehead is severely reduced, but holds.

China counterattacks, retaking the factory hex. Could have retaken Sian, as well, but the Chinese trapped to the east of Sian, marched off to Beijing, instead of attacking Sian from the rear. Stupidly played by me...[:@]

Not as high as I would have liked - the Chinese only lost 56 conscripts wile killing 45 Imperial units - not a good exchange rate!

However it seems the Chinese are probably not building any more units - instead I suspect they are building PP's so as to be able to construct a new factory far in the west - IMO the 4 they have built already are too far east and were too tempting a target for me.

More Chinese industrial centres are captured, but some troops are shifting to the coast for the upcoming Pacific offensives.....

The Chinese army is on its last legs...it's remaining regulars are cut off in the south, and there are too few troops to defend all the remaining industrial areas.

Japanese production has shifted to carrier aircraft and infantry from tanks and artillery....

Russian counterattacks against numerous German paratroop drops, and invasions, have succeeded in eliminating all but the bridgehead at Riga, which was severely reduced. Meanwhile, a huge Schwerpunkt is aimed at Kiev...[X(]

In China, I screwed up and in a moment of distraction moved the wrong damned unit away from the factory hex, leaving me insufficient forces to retake the one that the Japanese took last turn. I really don't need to accelerate the demise of China, but seem to be determined anyhow...[:(]

Looks like the end for China...all industrial centres are captured, and the Engineers have been crushed in combat so will not be available to build any more......

Scouting expeditions to the south sees have found huge Western garrisons on various islands - it looks like half of the Netherlands has joined the garrison of the East Indies.....

This turn was like a Spaghetti Western. There was the good, the bad, and the ugly.

First the good...my counterattack on the Dnepr left 17 German units stranded without supply. I'm sure they'll have their supplies restored promptly, but at least it'll cause a little grief. Riga was retaken.[:)]

More to hate about the vanilla WaW version of air/sea battles in this scenario...an artillery attack against the Kriegsmarine (2 CA, 2 DD) left them ~ 50% damaged. Then, I followed up with a strike against them with 15 Soviet Fighters and 15 Soviet Divebombers. The results? After quickly sinking the DD's and dropping the readiness bars down to almost nothing on the CA's, the CA's then stood there and shot down 9 fighters, and 4 Divebombers. I guess I must have hit the max number of hits limit on the CA's. Anyhow, a bad result.[:@]

Now, the ugly. Playing the Chinese, I saw that the Japanese mortar unit (1 horse and 4 mortars) was all by itself, and I could attack from two sides with my HQ and a couple of worn out infantry from across the river. The result? The infantry unit lost about half their men and broke off early, without causing any losses to the Japanese. Then, I was treated to the spectacle of about 7 rounds of my Staff firing their pistols into the air, and the Mortars firing celebratory rounds (captured Chinese fireworks, anyone?) and absolutely NO casualties being caused by this farce. It seems none of the 75 Staff came to the front line, and none of the mortars were required to be frontline even though nothing else in the respective hexes (other than my infantry gun, and his horse) was around to do battle.[X(][:(][&:]

Anyhow...turn's been sent to Giacomo.

Moping up in China - killed a lot of Mao's close lieutenants, but there's still a couple of units that look strong enough to put up a fight, so will be happy to let lack of supply do it's magic for a turn or 2 I think.

Other troops stream away to the coast.......

I think you meant mopping up in China. I'm the one doing the moping, up in China...[:(]

Russia perfects the art of hitting exposed German units, and then disappearing into the wilds. Well...at least as far back as they can get. We've yielded the onion fields of the Ukraine to the Fascist Horde, but will fight on until the bitter end. This is still only the bitter middle...[:D]

Mopping will do then - China is reduced to 1 unit wih 2 infantry SF's in it - Mao is captured and sent to Manchuko for various nasty experiments......we declare that China is pacified.

Sorry...

I trust you'll leave that unit alive, so that I have something left to turn back over to Vance when he comes back from his Caribbean vacation.

Things are looking grim for the good guys. The combined Axis production is twice that of the combined Allied production. Japan still has a couple of turns left before they have to launch the Pacific Blitz, there is no winter that will save Russia, and we are direly outnumbered...[:(]

Yeah...I screwed up and forgot to transfer them back to the HQ's before ending the turn.
