Losses this week are still low. Our supply lines are so long now that I worry more and more about the weather and these annoying partisan attacks. We are still trying to hunt down the small band near Veliki Luki. The damned swamps are making it harder than is should be...

Without giving too much away, yes. I have a couple of rear area units that are just for partisan smacking duty.

Personal diary of FM Leeb:

October 18, 1941

MUD! I have never seen so much rain, sleet and mud in once place in my entire life! Everything gets stuck in it, tanks, trucks, horses, men! Some of the troops have reported losing boots and gear in the mud. never to be seen again. Our operations are moving at a snail's pace now....

The Finnish Army with support from elements of the 18th Army have captured the last stragglers of the Lennigrad defence. They have offered to garrison the area for now. In reality, they have lost the political will to continue fighting now that they have avenged themselves for the Winter War losses.

Gen. Kuchler and 18th Army are packing up and moving to the Moscow sector of the front to join 16th Army operations there. With the change in weather it will probably take them a month to get there!

4th Panzer is pushing forwad down the road to Vologda, slowed only by the weather...

16th Army has begun operations in the Moscow center with probing near a northern Moscow perimetter fortified area. The Luftwaffe was called in to soften up the defenders but ended up on the losing end of a air battle with Soviet aircraft...

Personal diary of FM Leeb:

October 25, 1941

Still the rains come! At this rate we will all be drowned rather than killed in combat! The "corporal" wants us to take Moscow by Christmas! But he does not believe our reports of the quagmire this forsaken country has become.

Very little progress is made by 4th Panzer. Next week they hope to have a bridge head over the Volga river.

18th Army is moving south to help with the battle for Moscow but is slowed by bad roads and the rains!

16th Army captures a fortified area north of Moscow at very little cost, thanks to help from the Luftwaffe.

Losses for the week are extremely low, owing to the fact that we can't close with the enemy fast enough in this mud.

Don't worry, we're not stopping. One of the fellows has a very ill grandfather so he needs time to get his turns done.

Stay tuned, there's more to come.[8D]

Personal diary of FM Leeb

November 1, 1941,

4th Panzer finally forces their way across the northern Volga. With the help of some Special Forces units, they should have a clear path deep into Russia... if they don't lose too many tanks to the unending rains!

18th Army continues its trek south from Lennigrad, crushing a partisan uprising on the way.

November 1, 1941 continued...

16th Army makes slow but steady progress towards Moscow's industrial complex. Also the Luftwaffe has reported that they hit a NKVD training facility and flattend it! This should slow the flow of Stalin's fanatics in this area.

Personal diary of FM Leeb

November 8, 1941

No situation maps this week because of this damn rain! Everything is sodden and covered in mud. When will it end?!?

18th Army continues it's slow trek through the mud for he Moscow front.

4th Panzer continues to make headway into the interior.

16th Army contiues to probe the Moscow defenses.

The luftwaffe destroyed a supply depot on the outskirts of Moscow this week.

Partisan activity is becoming more of a problem. These bands are being hunted like vermin and destroyed.

It will end when the snow comes and everything is frozen solid. Then you panzers can't move anyway because the russian mice have eaten away the electric wiring in your precious tanks [:D]

Yeah... I'm hoping it ends when FM Leeb is having dinner in the Kremlin.[8D][:D]
