RE: US carriers clash with KB near Solomons

Yes that's a huge victory for the Allies. Japan has lost CV superiority and can't, from now on, push any invasions through in the presence of Allied CVs. So, right now, Japan is in danger of losing the initiative. How the Japanese player responds will be interesting. he can go on the defensive now OR try to continue pushing forward whilst using his carriers less. Both are viable options although obviously the second promises greater returns, albeit at greater risk,

Well, that's that settled then.

Hi Nemo. Definately and I have some ideas what FDR is up to.

Time will tell whether I'am correct with my visions what is going on and what is going to happen. However I will continue to push with my own plan. So, it is definately not one way street.

Here is an example from the Mandalay air battles from last turn. (Don't know if this is 100% accurate since the sync bug is very annoying)

Day Air attack on Mandalay , at 33,30

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 94
A6M3 Zero x 37
Ki-21 Sally x 127
Ki-46-II Dinah x 7

Allied aircraft
Hurricane II x 62
Kittyhawk I x 14

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 41 destroyed, 3 damaged
A6M3 Zero: 8 destroyed, 3 damaged
Ki-21 Sally: 6 destroyed, 3 damaged
Ki-46-II Dinah: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Hurricane II: 42 destroyed
Kittyhawk I: 7 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
36 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 6
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 46

We have reached the mid July 1942.

At the moment nothing significant happening. I guess no suprise there since what is the allied player supposed to do? I do not have adequare amount of frontline fighters and personel to conduct that the operations I would love to do.

Enemy is hurt too. How bad? Well, I would say that things have not gone Japanese way on this one.

Only things happening:

a) Air war in Burma. Japanese have launched several raids againts Mandalay. Both sides have lost hundreds of aircraft here. Japanese army is closing on Mandalay. I think around 20 units currently just outside of Mandalay base.

b) I have secured a lot of bases in Southern Pacific. (Lunga, Russell Island and Tulagi). Rabaul is all but neutralized by allied bombers. Japanese have conducted a couple of hit and run missions againts our surface fleets here.

That is basically it. Everything is moving as well as they could. Sometimes I get an feeling that I have experienced all this before! [:D][8|] .

Hopefully the AE will ignite the fire and spark again! [:D]
That is what you get by playing this game for several years.
