This is a practice game to familiarise us all with the command structure, not the actual game, or a game to familiarise us with our eventual posts. Filling the posts is also to see who is still interested and who has drifted elsewhere. 40th birthdays come once in a lifetime, so I'd go if I were you and there will be plenty of GPW playing when you get back.[:)].
Will you be able to take West Front in the Practice or is this birthday do going to take you out for a while?

Dont worry. As I was the last to come I will be the last to take a slot. Dont want to push you out. Of cause you are first, then cames me.
So, whether you go to birthday or not, is just something to discuss with your team. But it does not interfer with the question who is part of team or the question whether I am in or not.
And I think Mehring is right: 40th birthday is a reason to celebrate [:)].
If you are away for some time, maybe the one who takes HQ can command your AG as long you are absent and you will take command as soon as you are back. (Just a suggestion. Of cause it is your business to handle this. So, hope you dont mind when I make comment on this.)

put tha alarm clock at 6h30 am On a Sunday[X(]
to read the board. I am just away one day but I can still
do the practice game although I would not do it because
we might get to know some ennemies strategies.[:D]

It's ok, RufusT is playing the Germans to start with, so no strategy will be revealed. I'll put you into West Front. All slots filled so we await Mr Firefly's file!
STAVKA- Mehring (surprise, surprise)
NW Front- TheArchduke
W Front- mavnb
SW Front- Ccr
Germans- RufusTFirefly
Command Pool-
When we start the game for real, this will be split into the two sides. I suggesst that command pool follow progress of the side they are assigned to and should feel free to submit operational plans to their HQ.

Jst hear the wolf howling early in the morning. Be prepared, mavnb, the hunter is coming.
To be serious: The first wave of attack is launched. Mavnb, you just have to stnad the heaviest blow, for I have not yet done enough recon in the north and of course Romanian front will not launch the major attack. So, most happened in the middle.
Stavka has all information about the first battles.

@RufusTFirefly
Ok, I can handle it.
@Mehring
Commander. We are under attack! I need all the resources sent to me so that I can stabilize the front and push the ennemy back.

RE: GPW v6a
This is fun, looking forward when I can execute my orders.
RE: GPW v6a
Archy authorised to execute. Contrary to previous, PM file to Ccr who has taken over SW Front and is also free to execute. No word from mavnb. Has he gone to a wedding or been hit by the Luftwaffe? In case it's a help, the game file can be PMed archived as a .zip, but .rar files are not supported.

RE: GPW v6a
To clarify: Will I be receiving a turn file from you or mavnb? i.e. As SW front I will be the last Sov player to 'execute' turn?
Looking forward to smashing the fascists attack etc!

RE: GPW v6a
There's no specific order of resolution, it could change from turn to turn.
I assumed Dookie would go first but he seems offline. Ccr, you could execute first and PM him the file to continue. It's just that if he's secretly doing his move and not following the thread here.... you might have to do your turn again. If you do go first, email AND PM him please to minimise this risk.
mavnb hasn't replied to orders yet, I guess he's at the wedding, so he's sure to go last this turn.

To me, mavnb. After you are done.
RE: GPW v6a
@Archduke
If you got the file from Ccr, go ahead with your turn, you have your boundary with West Front so no need to follow any order. Then send it to mavnb
@mavnb
yes, I'll be online tonight.

RE: GPW v6a
Hmm, good point. A sitreport afterwards might be a good idea.
RE: GPW v6a
Reminder!!! This is the amended, evolving turn sequence we're testing
1. HQ issues orders and sends current file to all players.
2. AGs/Fronts request strategic support (if centrally managed) and any special unit/supply allocation and question any orders they disagree with.
3. Having consulted all concerned, HQ allocates strategic support and transport capacity****, authorises inter-front transfers (if any) and detemines that turn's order of play (movement/combat resolution) among the Fronts/AGs. Orders are amended if needed.
4. Fronts execute orders. Last AG/Front returns file to HQ. All make turn report to HQ.
5. HQ replenishes frontline lower HQs/units from production, performs production and strategic movement functions .****
6. HQ sends file to other side.
****I wasn’t sure how to deal with STAVKA rail capacity, ****
whether
1. STAVKA assign each Front a variable numerical quantity of capacity every turn(eg 20 000 points) to use themselves
2. let Fronts designate units for STAVKA strategic transport after their turn, ie in step 5 (above).
3. Assign general priority to various Fronts and let them move their units using STAVKA capacity.
In the event we’ve used the third option for the first turn.
In the first case there is likely to be wasted capacity each turn.
In the second case, if Fronts designate more units for STAVKA strategic transfer than STAVKA has capacity, those extra units will get left behind, in the case of this withdrawal, badly exposed.
The third option is probably too vague to work, but of the two Fronts that have done their turn and reported back, neither seem to have used STAVKA capacity anyway.
Perhaps a composite version might work, ie
4 STAVKA assign each Front a variable numerical quantity of capacity (eg 20 000 points) to use themselves then designate in their After Turn Report any units they would like moved if possible with any left over capacity.
This way, the Fronts will not EXPECT units to be transferred after their turn and should not, then, leave them vulnerable. Such extra transfers are a luxury. But as much as possible of the capacity available gets used.
Ideas please.
