The transport of the army to N. Africa is being done unescorted?

A great AAR! It really exposes the AI, but a very good read anyway....

Yes, these tourists, all in civilian clothing, are taking a cruise in the Med. They are bringing some very serious SUVs with them!

I find the multiple sea zones in the Med give me problems as a player too. The Royal Navy must have control in the center Med, but the western Med should have a blocking force. Note, I do not know that the RN is not there. The might just be having trouble finding the transport or two I am slipping over.

I actually am not totally happy about this development since the Italians have been busy building up near Sidi, and I may let them have their day in the sun. Hard to compete when the Germans bring a level four Panzer Korps to the party. It is my intention to keep the Germans in Tunisia, unless the British actually put up a decent defense, which I do not expect.

The German production, currently well over 300 points per turn, has skewed this battle and the AAR will welcome the Americans to present some new forces.

Tony,

Thanks, it has been great fun.  The AI in the East did not have the units, PP to put up a major battle, but they stung me a few times.

In the West the French would have been much better off if they had continued with the "stay behind the Maginot" policy.  I am surprised at the absence of the British.  The BEF usually "stunts" across the border in these situations.  If only the French would protect their flanks they could avoid those horrible losses, but I doubt they could have massed enough force to break the Germans.  Nevertheless they could have provided aid and comfort to the Soviets by drawing more units west.  The Germans in the East were thin on the ground.

So even with these shortcomings, is it still a "Good" buy?

It must be pretty obvious that I love this game. Look at some of my other posts for advice on saving the game at various points and then going back and "side switching". It allows you to play "against yourself". This is not done on a turn by turn basis, but at critical points. Take Great Britain by amphibious assault, then go back and defend against the Axis invaders. Great stuff!

I bought this game in mid-August and it kept me happy through the worst economic times of my life. It must be doing something right.

Also it seems like the Developers are trying real hard to get the thing(s) worked out. I sometimes feel sorry for all of the abuse that they have taken on this forum....They have "Thicker" skin than I do!!!

Chuck, Are you using the original map and counters? Or are they modded?

I think the map is original, but the counters are modded.  I think they are an iteration of the "classic counters" mod by JMass.  They can be found in the "Mods and Scenarios" sub forum.

The developers are interested in improving the game, but surely cannot please everyone.

PS : The triskelion, are you Sicilian?

I googled the very interesting flag you display, and found out something about the triskelion which is also a symbol on the flag of the Isle of Man. One learns something new every day.

Interesting stuff. I had never heard of the incident in New Orleans.

If I end up buying this game, it will be because of you and your AAR [8D]
