Dear Diary,

On the second day of my celibacy, I took up birdwatching.  I wore this nifty straw hat and roamed for miles through fields and woods and saw really, really, really cool things like a yellow-rumped warbler and a bluejay.  My life is complete...

Sincerely,

Canoerebel

I feel it is the civic duty of any American forum participant to report this delusional being to the nearest rubber room site. Obviously this state of mind is only a stones throw away from going postal! Knowing the easy availability of guns in the US he better be grabbed soon. Think of the innocent women and children![;)][X(][:'(]

Ool , if you are ever in the Washington DC area, please contact me. I'd love to play tour guide and perhaps put some of your fears and misconceptions about my countrymen to rest. [:)] If you would like, I'll even take you target shooting at one of the local indoor target ranges.[:D] Seriously , I'd like to show you that we are not the boogiemen-with-guns that some seem to think us. And what better place that our nation's capitol? I think it would be fun. And by the way , that goes for any other citizens of the forum too! Look me up! [:)]
and now that you can actualy own a hand gun in dc.

Didn't mean to get into politics and get the Matrix, all bow to the almighty Matrix, angry. It was simply a reflection of the move by the mayor of New York speaking on CNN to have people checked for qualification to be able to own a gun when buying at the local gun shows which are exempt from screenings. Simply took this one step further to poke fun at Canoerebel.

One Canadian comic put it best when referring to the American second amendment," The second amendment was put in to be ready to resist an invasion of the US by the British. Well I've got a news flash for America, the British aren't coming. Also apart from the Canadian army who uses muskets anymore?"

Obviously with our troops in Afghanistan taking highest per capita casualty rate of any forces there this joke doesn't go over well in Canada anymore. However it was funny at the time.
not if it is a person transaction between two people ie if the person selling the gun does not sell enough guns a year to be considered a gun dealer(i think it 7 pr 8 guns a year currently)
Understood. But the offer still stands.

Point of law about the gunshow question. If there is no background check at the gunshows in New York, that's due to the Govenor and Legislature's decision. I the three states where I've either purchased guns , or been with someone who purchased guns (Maine,Florida and Virginia) at said gunshows, background checks were done. It sounds a little like the manager of a buisness complaining that no one is doing his job. Maybe good for political capital, but REALLY bad management. [:D] But no politics. You are right , they don't belong here.

The British are not invading us? Obviously you have never been to Orlando Florida in the winter! [:D]

Also, some politicians have proposed laws requiring anyone who attends a gun show would have to register with the government, on the grounds that anyone does so is a person who "needs to be watched".

What? Nobody else saw that Sopranos episode? I thought it was hilarious, and they only hurt another gangster. No animals were harmed in the filming of that episode. And it didn't delay AE one bit. Unless Down Bowen took time out to watch it.

I came to WITP relatively late (2007) but since then I must have averaged 4-5 hours a day playing it.

Having just recently quit my PBEM game, I too find it hard not to go back. I have tried to pick up an old AI save game but it is like playing against a 3 year old.

I'm really, really concerned about Dan (Canoerebel). He has forsworn WITP for six months, and takes up birdwatching. He doesn't even mention anything about watching the UGA spring game on ESPN, so it is obvious that he has become completely delusional. I mean, really, birdwatching instead of WITP and/or Georgia football? This is not the Dan we all have come to know and love. I suspect brainwashing...

Sort of. If you relocate there, you can bring a revolver (six shot or less). If you live there, you must buy a gun there. There are no gunshops in DC). I got caught by this loop hole. My wife and I are Florida residents , living in Virginia. Obviously, I'll never be permited to buy a gun there. My wife , who is active duty military, by federal and Virginia law, is supposed to be able to. A month ago we were at a gun show, and she wanted a 22 target pistol. She was refused (through a criminal background check) . She's stationed at the Pentagon, in Arlington Virginia. By the way , the Pentagon, like all Naval and Military district Washington facilities , have a Washington DC post office box address, which is on her orders. So she is not allowed to buy a gun in either DC or Virginia. Just another one of those things that make you wonder why people bother to serve in the military. [X(][:(]

Dear Diary,

What the he#@?  Your pages have been corrupted by some virus that is fixated on gun ownership in Washington D.C. and some game called WOW.

This afternoon I purchased binnoculars, a scope, a field guide, and an audio-tape of bird songs for those species in Eastern North America.  I returned to the natural area where I saw that bluejay yesterday because I had an idea.  Rather than traipsing hither and yon to try to find little birds way up in the tops of pine trees, I would sit on a bench, pull out an MP-3 player, insert the bird-song CD, and draw the birds to me!  So, I selected the song of the tufted titmouse and turned on my MP-3 player.  "Hey, you!" shouted another birdwatcher.  "You can't do that. It's gamey!"

First its attracting birds with a MP3. How much longer before its attracting "the enemy" to his vintage M1 Carbine?

Wouldn't want to be in his neck of the woods when he snaps!

i am pretty sure he left out a 4 in 43... though this does seem a bit excessive for a tufted titmouse, or even a bluejay! [X(] [:'(]
