so its maybe possible that as of May 42, going into the first week of June.....only around 50ish of those B5N's had been fully completed and delivered to the Navy?

I would say 10 or so. These were probably assembled in april-may, whether they were delivered to IJN or not is another question. Take it as an educated guess – all Kates in IJN service in May ’42 were built in 1941, during winter-spring ’42 second-line units were used as a replenishment source for 1st carrier fleet.

I do not feel that my posts provoke too little response though, they’re more like a notes of interest. my point was that it’s so easy to come up with the “flash news” here since every possible issue has been already discussed at least twice and people just got bored with all these details. Interesting. It may be what you postulated....that P/T might have missed one of the factories/arsenals that produced B5N's. It might be worth asking them over at Combinedfleet. com. They are pretty accessible from what i hear.
