What A Great Game

I hear from some of the other guys that the AI is a lot improved. Plus, the ability to mod him, at least for short scenarios will be a big sell for me. I would love to get inside the AI's head and try to make him a better opponent with a game like WiTP, so the prospect of being able to do it in AE sounds like fun!

I have nothing to do with the development of AE, but it is pure fantasy to think that a game of this scope and magnitude is going to play anything like a Human opponent, esp with the calibre matching my arch Nemesis. There hasn't been a programming breakthrough recently or a new language invented or likely to be in the near future that can define our or his[;)] cognitive processes. But I'm sure a person such as Herwin has better insight here... still (and no offence to Herwin, you might not understand what he is talking about in its technical complexity). Just think how long it took coders to teach a computer to beat a good player at chess.

There are many brilliant ppl playing this game, and I'm sure that many of them will look at the AI and the scripting capabilities and create some amazing mods and scenarios with challenging AI. Hell, with Nemo's permission, I'd like to define some of the things he's pulled on me over the last year of gameplay and see if I can get the AI to manage just a part of it. BTW, I want to thank the developers for having the foresight to reveal the scripting side iirc.

Furthermore, I've read about ppl talking about the toning down of capabilities of both sides, a good Japanese and Allied player will always challenge that paradigm, and remember Stock is just a template for a better mod [;)] No offence to the team who have put a lot of effort into the OOB's.

I guess ultimately, we will find out soon enough, and I think there will be enough for both AI and PBEM players to have lasting enjoyment from what seems to be a new game, rather than just an upgrade.

Unlike some of you monogamous WiTP lovers, I'm more of a game slut; hook up with one for a few weeks or months until she gets predictable, then make her the spare and shift another (either new or from the old pile) up to primary status for a while.

Reminds me of myself back when I was younger [;)]. But I guess when getting older one sort of starts settling down...

In my own case, you're so dead wrong it's pathetic, so maybe your generalization is just as far off the mark.

Drink Dr Pepper? Yes, but would never pay more than $2 for a bottle.
I think it's a bit more likely that a fool and his money will soon part, so if you're unworried about finances in one area, you're unworried about them in all areas. Most people end up with a bit of a splurge in some small area, even if they are penny pinchers, it's just that gaming may not be one of those areas.

I only have to pay for AE one time to get enjoyment from it. You have to purchase your Dr Pepper everytime.

If we add up the cost for AE -v- the money you spent on Dr Pepper, then compare the end results; well, at the end I still have my game, and you have flushed your money down the toilet.

Well, today's expenses personally so far:

Blood/Liver test results from lab: 42.00 EUR
Beer from grocery: 7.18 EUR (I think many will see irony in this..) [:D]
Special cat food from shop for our 5 cats: 47.00 EUR
Gas for car: 20.00 EUR
Summer school outing extra for kid: 5 EUR

I don't think I'll be too scared about AE price right now.

Yesterday:

Dinner in restaurant for 4: 100 EUR with tip, pepper steaks etc.( Malta is cheap compared to many places)
Beer from grocery: 5.30 EUR [:'(]
Summer school fees: 12.50 EUR
Movie tickets for 2+1 and refreshments, about 30 EUR

Wife works hard, I work hard..and we just bought a house. We both have "entertainment budget" for both. AE, if it's 49.99, 59.99, 69.99, is not going to be the thing coming crashing on us.

Just to bring things to comparison for all the moaners. Think what you spend, before bitching about price, these folks deserve fair price for their work.

I do not post offen and what I think about this form is that it is GREAT!&nbsp; As has been said where can you go and ask questions and get answers from a group with the knowledge here?&nbsp; As for the cost, it is all relevent to what you want to spend you hard earned money for.&nbsp; I see it as educational and have been a student of WWII since I read They Were Expendable in the 4th grade.&nbsp; Have never stopped buying the books and read every day.&nbsp; And since 30+ years in the USMC did have some help with the knowledge intake.&nbsp; Matrix keep it up.
