That is the game which originally got released in late 90's, no?

It's the sequel to 101st Airborne which was released then.

Seeing Matrix considering Star Sentinel Tactics really bugged me after my experience with the Impulse version. But I need to let it go. If they have the guts to release a demo, then no one stands to lose.

Great Battles Medieval is a good one. No where near the graphics level of the later Total War games, but very moddable for beginners. The turn-based aspect will also be appreciated by many here. And I bet previous Slitherine owners like me will get a nice patch out of it!

Best to you!

Hey Rosseau, does GBM have a real campaign like the total war series too? Or is it just linear stuff?

It has an English and French campaign. You can choose your next battle on the strategic map. There are quite a few, from what I remember. After each battle, you get access to better weapons and other perks that you assign during the strategic phase.

I am not a great modder, but was easily able to mod scenarios in the campaigns to create totally different battles.

Go here to really get an excellent overview:

Good list of games for the armchair general to think about there.  Why is Matrix selling Revolution Under Siege, but not Rise of Prussia?  Not that it matters just curious.
It's not done by the same team. RoP is truly owned by Paradox now, so they decide who is selling it and who is not. Revolution Under Siege is an independent project based on the AGE engine, which, I think (but I am biased :D), is the true heir of AACW: Epic in scale, with a lot of features that are making the game self-consistent and globally in line with the period we are trying to model. :) As we are independent, our business representative is in contact with several distributors and Matrix is one of our favourite. :)

EDIT: And Yes we are working very hard to get the title ready on time.

Hi guys,

Just a heads up for you all on how things are looking here. Santa has been very, very busy getting all the presents ready for Christmas*. (* or insert your favorite jolly fellow and holiday of choice).

We expect to release Revolution Under Siege next week on November 23rd.
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/396 ... nder.Siege.

After that, we have our annual Holiday Sale starting.

Then it will be time for Field of Glory: Swords and Scimitars and Gary Grigsby's War in the East.
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/372 ... .1941-1945

After that, we expect Distant Worlds: Return of the Shakturi and Battlefield Academy: Blitzkrieg France.

If we're very lucky, we will also have time to release Panzer Command: Ostfront.

Odds are one or two releases may slip to January, but all of these are possible and most are very likely!

Regards,

- Erik

Never mind, screenshots released
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."

I'm not getting excited about it tbh. As much as I would love to, I don't think I'm grognard enough to suit the price [:(]

Have they announced a price yet? Or are you just guessing that it'll be expensive?

That's no rocket science and I bet a nickel for a dime that we will see at least three pages of complain posts.

But regardless of the price, I'll buy WitE on release day.

I shan't be complaining. I'm expecting it this time round. Besides, it was the manner of the pricing of the last big release that pissed me off. I shouldn't confuse the two if I were you. I think everyone is well aware that WitE will be out of their "comfort" price, and if they are expecting anything else, then that's their lookout.

I'm looking forward to the announcement, but I shouldn't think you'll see many posts from me in the forum. That'll be a welcome relief for some, I should think. [:D]

Was not directed to you personally, JD. I just remember the long threads at BftB release. [;)]

Actually it's simple math. Prices correlate with complexity and the better games are usually more expensive. That goes at least for WitP AE, AtD II and BftB. I doubt that WitE will become an exception here.

To be quite frank, I would be even willing to pay € 130,- for the WitE collectors edition with lavish package, spiral binded color manual, huge printed map, cardboard counters and Wehrmacht dog tag. [:D]

Define comlexity.
For me, BFTB is not complex. It's streamlined and very approachable / playable for a lot of people (if they accept game design philosophy and the price).
It's all a matter of picking a formation and plotting their movement, setting their combat stance and let the AI do the rest.
The scale is not too big and details are not as punishing as WITP or WITE. [:D]
