Hi all.

So we're in September. 2d Pz Group is having a marshmellow roast in the Kremlin. And the reason for that? The rail repair guys screwed up. You know that dog leg in the rail line just outside the Baltic zone? If you forget to fix the dog-leg and go on fixing the rail until you get 6 hexes east.

Yeah, that was me. So I did capture Moscow, but nobody has anything to eat, or fuel, etc. The 3d Pz army is wandering North through the woods, for about 3 turns now.

In the South, Larry created a huge blob of units, sort of a Persian Rug of units, east of Kiev. I chewed off a few units to the South, but doing nothing but wasting tanks I think.

Looking at the results, this is the mildest Barbarossa ever. 2 Mil Soviets eliminated?

But, it's 1.04 so I may survive the Winter.

Regards ,k

Here's the situation in Leningrad:.......I'm thinking of pulling some of my defenders back to the Blue Line and defending the last two ports from there. Wish me luck.

Pulling back like that won't do you any good regardless the status of the ports. The issue is all the ports are going to be out of supply, which means everything is going to be isolated. In addition, the Finns will be able to move past the Svir river line, although they won't be able to attack.

At this point, I would pull the Russians to the southwest that are in the level 3 forts back. Having them in that bulge is doing nothing for you at the moment and if you pull them back even with the swamp line you have set up 2 hexes to the north, they can defend from there and you can use those guys for other things. You can't leave the back side of Leningrad open like that or most Germans are going to swoop in on you.

The other thing given the date is that you need to put pressure on the outside of his encirclement. His logistics are going to suck and it will soon be mud, which means it will be even worse. You have some cav in the area, which is helpful.

As Klydon points out, you can't let your ports go out of supply if you want to prevent LGrad from being isolated.  Don't forget there's a 3rd port - the one to the north of the two you mention, at Sviritsa (see below).  If that port goes out of supply, holding the other 2 probably won't matter since they'll also likely be out of supply.  I'd try and somehow keep KLilly from permanently isolating that port if you can.

Cheers and thanks for some great AARs!
