Patch 2 Progress

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Take a look at CotA forums. Same thing happended. Dave wouldn't give in and kept finding bugs.

If Dave says the installer has been sent to Matirx be prepared to wait another 4 weeks or so.

You mean you have a life, Dave? Oh....:)

Of course there will be a bug in the next iteration. there will always be another bug. This is some kind of cosmic game. And each and every day for the next twenty years we will be here saying 'when will the patch come out?' 'Thanks for the update, Dave.' 'No problems, just glad you're doing it at all. We can wait.' And each and every day Dave will say 'Found a another big and will spend tomorrow squashing it....'

I actually understand Dave's attitude. They're gearing up to develop the next title - Eastern Front, woohoo! - and he really wants to leave BftB in the best possible state, since he isn't sure about how long it will be until they can work on it again.

All my best wishes with the patch Dave!

That's because you make the mistake of imagining 'Dave' is a person, a living human being. But that's not what's going on here.....Has anyone actually seen 'Dave'? Can anyone confirm he actually lives?

Oh well...just whilst we're amusing ourselves, waiting....

Guys,

Been lurking on this forum awaiting the launch of Patch 2.    My theory has now become the launch will coincide with the Xmas push - may see a few people buy the game due to the launch of the patch - 4 weeks to wait.

Very amusing Guys. Top marks to phoenix. I wondered how long it would take for someone to finally cotton on. Tomorrow's headline will read "Panther Games passes Turing test!"[;)]

Damn quiet on this board....I guess it's back to the drawing board or Dave may be out of town.

I honestly thought it would be back with Matrix by now. Now I think maybe it won't even make christmas....Dave? DAVE? When will we have this patch, Dave? Seriously. What's a realistic estimate?

Yes it is. But maybe I should remain in character an ignore you.[;)]

SITREP. It's with Matrix who are working up a new installer. Once that is done, we'll test and if OK it will be released.

I knew my two week guestimate once Dave said the installer was going to Matrix would be out even more.

When Dave says he is tieing up loose ends and the installer will be going tio Matrix that means...I still have a few bugs I want to squash (minor and most likely no one will notice but I will have sleepless nights, kind of bugs) and then I will send of the installer only to remember the other minor bugs I had forgotten about as no beta testers saw them but I know they are there, so I will ask for it back, wash rinse repeat until his Missus tells him to stop stressing about it and shut up. Then it comes to us.

Hello, are we any closer yet?  This seems like a very long time to get a finished patch out.  Don't get me wrong, appreciate all the work and the changes look amazing, but I think we started talking about releasing the patch in late July.  I am just anxious to give it a spin:)

This is perfectly normal procedure here to be honest. Once you hear the patch is near ready for release it means it's about 3 or more months away.

Once you hear the installer is being built expect another month or so.

This comes as no suprise to me. We get it in the end and it will be worth the wait.

Well, it may be normal here, but that doesn't mean we should just lie down and take it! For myself, that's it. I've waited too long and been too tempted by Miya's AAR on Pieper's Race and I just have to play it! So I'm going to play it unpatched! That's it. I don't WANT the patch....I'm not waiting around anymore. I'm goin to play it UNPATCHED! Hah!!

I agree it might be normal for this game, but doesn't mean that is normal across the industry. Regardless, I'll patiently continue waiting and hope it comes soon.

I complained on the main discussion board about the seeming priority matrix gives other games. It seems to me that WITE for example puts out a new beta patch weekly. Eric Rutkins took exception and got a little huffy saying they had a large volume of new games coming out and this was just in line. I am curious as to what the process is as this game seems different. I guess Matrix can't multitask. Didn't we pay like $90 for this game originally?

Matrix has finished their installer for the patch. We are now testing it. Please be patient.
