Conlict of heroes...Matrix?

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

We were aiming for this week, but we need one more bit of coordination on this, which will take us into next week. Sorry for the additional delay, we just want to make sure we do this right.

Regards,

- Erik

so tomorrow then?

It would seem not, unfortunately.

This must be the least publicised game ever. It seems odd that several of the games 'under development' have forums but are very obviously going nowhere ever and this one hasn't even had a mention and yet is due for immanent release, allegedly!
Cheers

I and the other beta testers are sworn to secrecy, which is why you won't see anything posted by us. However, I can confirm what you've already read. The game is in beta testing. I mean *real* beta testing. So hang in there folks. (-:

I said the same when starting this thread, only to come in for a load of stick for daring to open my mouth.

Funny how everyone else who has said the same haven't been jumped on from a great height.

It's the fact that we have heard nothing about the game whatsoever. Absolutely zilch. I've never known this at all with any game release, they all have pre release info sent out.

Anyway lets hope we hear something next week.

PR same here. Not sure why some thought it was normal for a game to have no info at all released about it once it's at the Beta stage anyway.

I know more about the future East Front Panther Game that must be a year away at least!

Considering how some games languish in the "upcoming games" for years it seems strange to me.
Anyway how you doing?

The announcement is imminent folks, just hang in there. This will be coordinated between us and Academy Games, so there will be plenty of PR before the release.

I'm now envisioning a special scenario in which one side has several trucks full of COH p.r. materials, and must get them from one end of the board to another before five turns are up so that the materials can reach the town at the far end, where there's a radio outpost and telegraph station that can be used to announce the news of COH's release...

I have the Storms of Steel boardgame and I like the system, I have been playing it more than ASL due to the reduced complexity.
I'm looking forward to the PC adaptation and will be keen to see how well multiplayer is integrated into the system.  Oh, and I want to be blown away by the quality of the graphics too :-)

I'm hoping they've made use of a PC and we have individual casualties etc. Not sure how I will feel if it's a straight conversion as boardgammes are limited by the fact we need to know the rules..under the hood complexity and can be upped ten fold with regards to a PC.

Still I imagine if they've changed it to much CoH fans will be tearing their hair out.

I'm hoping that there is a decent AI for solo play and that it is not just primarily a multiplayer effort.

Ideally there should be extensive FoW and, ideally, some sort of random battle generator as well.

A straight port from the board game, with the same number of scenarios, that can only really be played H2H will be a non-runner for me. May as well buy the boardgame and get the excellent looking components.
Cheers

I totally agree, maybe we find out today.
