This shot shows that the Allied Polish Reserve Army has arrived on the eastern map edge. Part of it was in reorg, and the rest is delayed by the cease-fire. Loss totals are now 170,380 Allies (and 725 guns) vs. 44,330 French (and 15 guns).

This shot shows that the Austrians assaulting Leipzig have had to abandon that operation, due to the approach of the French XI Corps. They’ve had to run for the border in order to secure communications with a supply point. Note the microscreen in the upper left corner showing the overall situation.

This shot shows that the French have gotten almost into their planned defense line. Note that the Guard will stand behind the line for use in counterattacking any breaches.

October 18th; Morning Turn; Allied Player-Turn:

Disaster! The Austrian III Corps is reorganizing. It can’t make it to the map edge. It will almost certainly be cutoff and surrounded by the French in their player-turn. The Austrian 1st Light Division has succeeded, however. It will try to hold out on its own.

This shot shows the Allied results in the north, from the French turn. These are pretty good results. The French have low readiness and supply, and the defenders that have been holding off Blucher are beginning to wear out. Note that the Allied Army of the North has arrived and reached the French defenses.

All the scenario’s units have now arrived. The Loss totals are now 183,010 Allies (and 738 guns) vs. 50,510 French (and 21 guns).

This shot shows the adjustments in the north. The Guard Cavalry is again being used to recover one hex via a counterattack. There are also counterattacks to retake a couple of other hexes. All were eventually regained.

This shot shows several counterattacks set up to regain hexes in the south. Again, the Guard is being used as a mobile reserve for that purpose. All those hexes were eventually regained.

Turn 11; 3 Combat Rounds Expended:

Post by Curtis Lemay »

Turn 11; 3 Combat Rounds Expended: This shot shows that progress continues against the Austrians. Little is left of the Austrian III Corps, and the Austrian 1st Light Division is rapidly disintegrating. By the end of the turn, the Austrians were eliminated. That means that the entire Army of Bohemia has been destroyed – right down to the last unit.

October 18th; Night Turn; Allied Player-Turn:

Loss totals were now 206,080 Allies (and 789 guns) vs. 56,470 French (and 27 guns). The Allies finally have all units starting their turn already on the French lines. They are still fresh while the French are still blown. The French forces used to destroy the Austrians still haven’t reached the battle (see the microscreen in the upper left). And it is a night turn. This should be the Allies best turn. This shot shows the results in the north. Indeed, this turn was the best the Allies have had all game. In fact, this is the first time a few French units have been destroyed.

This shot shows the Allied results in the south. Without reinforcements, the French line could disintegrate.

October 18th; Night Turn; French Player-Turn:

This shot shows the adjustments made in the north. The Leipzig Garrison has been used to shore up the northern defense. The rest of the units returning from the southwest are being sent to the south. A few counterattacks are planned here to try to regain a few hexes that had been lost. They actually were ill advised – costing a lot of losses and combat rounds. They do eventually regain the ground, though.
