RB-57D's max altitude is 40000ft, same as previous models.
But it was designed for high-altitude reconnaissance mission.

RE: Cold War Database 1946-1979 Platform Requests
Aloha,
There are two scenarios I would like to start working on. These are Paracels (Xisha) 1974 - this pits four Republic of Vietnamese ships versus 4-6 PLA Navy ships. All PLA Navy ships are in the database, but there was one EDSALL class (DE) and two BARNETGAT class small seapolane tenders (recast as patrol craft) in the fight. The other battle I am considering is the 06 Aug 1965 Battle of Shantou, where two ROCN subchasers were sunk by the PLA Navy. They were trying to land agent provocatuers to take advantage of the chaos in the PRC as the Cultural Revolution gathered steam. Didn't work out so well. This would be a good cat and mouse scenario with the KMT trying to sneak in at night to the coast and the PLAN trying to guess where they will land. The ships I would for both need are:
RVN Edsall DE (3 x 3"/50 guns)•
2 × 40 mm AA guns (1 × 2)
• 8 × 20 mm AA guns (8 × 1)
• 3 × 21 in (530 mm) torpedo tubes (1 × 3) (U.S. advisors did not provide torps)
• 8 × depth charge projectors
• 1 × depth charge projector (hedgehog)
• 2 × depth charge tracks
RVN Barnegat PF (1 X 5"/38; 2 x 81mm mortars)
TWN/ROCN PC-461 class (290 tons)
Armament: 1 3"/50, 1 40mm, 4 20mm, depth charges, hedgehog (estimate)
I've got some stats (not sure how reliable they are)
Thanks,
Mark

RE: Cold War Database 1946-1979 Platform Requests
I have a few requests [:D] I'm making a group of 1950s scenarios where WWIII started right after WWII and soviet naval aviation actually took off! One problem with soviet naval aviation is that its very, very weak in the 1950s and cannot stray more than 50 nautical miles from LBA for lack of air defense. I have a few requests which will make a "WWIII right after WWII with carrier battles" possible!
Could I get an "Internal Guns" loadout for the Tu-91 Boot Strike (id = 572) with an appropriate range?
Also the Yak-25's length according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-25 is 15.67 meters which puts it's size as a Medium Aircraft. This affects ids 174, 177, and 2377. This will allow the Yak-25 to possibly be based off of carriers.
Plus the Yak-25M (id: 177) has a RP-6 Sokol (Falcon) air search radar with a 20 mile range. Source: http://www.exacteditions.com/read/aerop ... 5197/40/3/ plus wikipedia mentions the RP-6 Sokol radar as well.
RP-6 might also have a 'look down' capability.
http://www.kamov.net/russian-aircraft/yakovlev-yak-25m/
Image of RP-6: http://coldwar.forumcommunity.net/?t=50771571
http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/i ... 019.5;wap2 ""Scan Three" - X band, 9.3-9.4GHz, 3 modes detected. very high PRF (Yak-25) [RP-6 Sokol]
"
This is a long shot but I guess it can't hurt to ask [:D] would it be possible to get a theoretical Yak-25 (id 174) and Yak-25M (id 177) to be Carrier Capable?
I have a few reasons to think that the Yak-25 and Yak-25M might have been carrier capable if Stalin stuck around to demand a Soviet carrier aviation fighter.
First off I'm going to use the Tu-91 as a baseline; as it actually was a prototype soviet carrier capable aircraft.
Tu-91:
Max. takeoff weight: 14,400 kg (31,746 lb)
Wing area: 47.5 m² (511 ft²)
(14 400 kg) / (47.5 (m^2)) = 303.157895 kg / m2
Thus a wing loading of 303kg/m2.
Yak-25:
Loaded weight: 8,675 kg (19,125 lb)
Wing area: 28.94 m² (311.51 ft²)
Wing loading at loaded weight: (8675 kg) / (28.94 (m^2)) = 299.75812 kg / m2
Max. takeoff weight: 9,450 kg (29,760 lb)
Wing loading at max takeoff weight: (9450 kg) / (28.94 (m^2)) = 326.537664 kg / m2
So approximately the same wing loading, and a lighter aircraft overall.
Yak-28R Brewer D (id 151) is carrier capable but isn't introduced until 1967; and dominates the 1950s airspace if I use it.
In conclusion [:D] between the wing loading and Yakovlev producing a carrier capable aircraft a decade later I'd like to request
the following:
[*] Tu-91 Boot Strike getting an internal guns loadout with appropriate range.
[*] Yak-25M being given an additional air search sensor
[*] Yak-25 and Yak-25M being made Medium Aircraft
[*] Yak-25 and Yak-25M being made carrier capable
The introduction of the Yak-25 and Yak-25M as a theoretical carrier capable aircraft will make soviet carrier naval aviation able to go toe-to-toe with American carrier naval aviation in the 1950s.
I have to say I absolutely love the CWDB! It covers a period in time that not many naval combat simulations cover! I also think if WWIII was going to kick off it would have happened in the 1950s or early 1960s.

no problems on your requests, the DB is with Rag at the moment but your requests have been noted as soon as I get it back I will to the platforms and mark them down as proposed aircraft in the comments box on the platform

RE: Cold War Database 1946-1979 Platform Requests
Hi Sirius,
Thanks so much for OKing my requests [:D] I was worried I was overstepping a little. [;)]
I think CWDB already has 3 proposed soviet carriers, AKR Orlitsa (Ex Graf Zeppilin), AKR Project 71 CV, AKR Project 72 CV. I just took a quick glance at them and they seem just about 100%. If there is anything amiss with these platforms I'm very interested in any updates that you might have in mind!
One thing that would be cool would be UNREP capability! [:D] For the 3 carriers (ids 503, 310, 315) could I get "Refuel From Starboard x1 (In)" and "Replenish From Port x 1 (In)"?
To replenish this fictional blue-water Soviet Navy I might need a Fleet Oiler and an Ammunition Ship, but for that I can just steal another nation's ships.
Thanks!
