I've been making whole hockey socks of mistakes this game as I learn. I don't understand game mechanics from reading the rules, I have to play and suffer. And that's not in any way to take away from Pelton's excellent play.

My invasions; all of them, have been disasters. My advice to anyone learning is don't underestimate the amount of planning and focus needed to succeed. And always leave some space for your troops to retreat. No point cramming the beaches so full they rout after any attack. I've really been playing with the air as well trying to understand the best mix. I managed to bomb some German units so heavily they gave up their Italian defences without much of a fight. On the other hand my strategic bombing has seemed ineffective by comparison. That too could have used much more focus.

I had hoped that spreading invasions would spread his response. Unfortunately it looks like I was the one who suffered from dispersal of effort. And I have to agree, in hindsight, Le Havre is terrible as a place to land.

edit: I'm pleased to say my other opponents are paying the price for my pain here. Or they will. [:D]

carlkay58 is making me look bad so I feel your pain.

Good numbers of panzers brought to one battle, punching not slapping .

205,820.... even the cooks are fighting.

8 panzers lost, 222 allied lost. Lots of long range kills I wonder.

Allied numbers look good too.

Those 88s saved the day.

Most of the time one side or the other has a greater concentration of armor. Could get a bigger than Kursk armor battle.

II SS Corp pushes the paratroopers off both ridges hopefully sealing off Brest.
If the garrison can hold on for one more turn I hopefully can break through and relieve them.

I tweaked my logistic so most of the replacements and supplies go to Brittany.
I have to tweak them back in 1 or 2 turns so I have to push them back quickly or digging and
start preparing for the next invasion. Logistics system seems to have allot of flexablity once you get the hang of it.

Not seeing any allied aircraft committed... That's not good for the allies.

And while obvious I'll remind people here. Don't commit your mulberries until you're sure you have a functional invasion. No need until you've got lots ashore; and it's annoying when they're captured.

Turn 64 VP’s this turn: -16 ---------Total: -467
At La Harve no attacks.
Brest falls, but the main line holds against 1 attack.
Allot of new units arrive I send 50% to Brittany and the others to hold coast lines from Italy to France. Tring to build up another reserve for the next invasion.

Will be interesting to see whether 2 invasion sites in N France without any possibility of immediate mutual support turn out to be smart moves.

Turn 65 VP’s this turn: -6 ---------Total: -473

At La Harve no attacks.
14th Army in Southern France holds against 0 attack.
The Gustov line holds against 2 attacks.
Brittany XX push II SS Panzer Corp out of a hex just below the ridgeline. The hex is still open.
Counter attacking at this point might be a bad thing. The path out of Brest is only 2 clear hexes wide below the ridgeline.

Manpower and armaments remain stable. Manpower has dropped from 37k to 27k over the last 6 months
All other industry also remains stable or with 10% of peaks.
The tempo of combat remains light enough to hold the lines for a while it appears.
LW at this point is about usless so I have been disbanding it or resting most of the wings to conserve gas and supplies.

I got about every possible town with a depot so rails are not needed near the front.

WitE=truck management

WitW=truck management

LW is usless by 44 sooner if you spam bomb AB's like WitE.

Defending requires very few supplies unlike attacking.

The logistics system after 41/42 HQBU spam in WitE seems very much like WitW -HQBU's

I really see no difference to be honest, there is allot you can play with.

Attacking is another story you must have rail lines, defending not if you start prepping months in advance.
