end march 42
TDV maintains his east of river bridgehead. lots of fighting. He has very few troops on the flanks with a big fist in the middle.

TDV tried to cut me off but came up a few hexes short. Very odd looking positions

end march 42 Moscow
My northern Blizzard pincer got into the north Moscow suburbs. Tdv stubbornly held the east bank of the river. Could not be dislodged.

end march 42 V Luki
Why am I so far West. One issue was that TDV can break out in any direction and each are had risk of being circled.
BUt If I withdrew from the North west area, TDV would just leave that whole front devoid and would just redeploy the troops to help him where he next strikes. next.

RE: end march 42 Moscow
TDV has some massive nerves leaving his flanks that exposed but it seems to be paying off as your troops seem to weakened to capitalize on the German weakness and it looks like he will prolly lock that massive pocket, which along with the pockets in the far south may be enough to doom your war effort after the heavy losses from 1941.
Neither of you are cautious commanders at all, some caution is usually warranted.
Also from you Army OOB he is very close to 1:1 with your army when you include the Axis allies which are just as good as Soviets in the summer of 1942.
This is very bad as it means you have no cushion to absorb major setbacks. Good luck [:)]

End April 42 Krasnodor
Lines basically stayed the same. Port was not bombed if I recall. Tdv repositioned his tanks west.
I've been bombing here a lot.
I eventually got a few divisions out thru the port. Rest became hiwi.

Take a fond last glimpse. Serene it is not to be!
Mud was so nice. I could have used an extended season of it.
Please look close at these battle lines. I must have missed the obvious.

RE: End April 42 Fins
I had many things to think of: Tdv really could strike in any direction.
I had major worries he would go North west from Moscow and try and cut of the north positions.
Or he could go SE from Moscow and head toward Gorky. or any other combo.
And I am pretty beaten up.

May 21 turn 49 First Clear Germans attack
Massive German offensive down slim corridor north east of Moscow. He had slowly pushed out during the mud/clear/mud season.
All out offensive. Flanks be damned.

May 21 turn 49 First Clear Germans attack
Once again I did a terrible job holding the river near Yaraslov. 2x loser of the Volga R.
This was my counterattack attempt to break the supply line. His supply tether was long into this neck.
I did get pressure on the river crossing ne as well as try to cut into the Moscow crossings. He was too skilled around Moscow.
Plus my partisans really never gave a good cut. I may have had one good cut in all. I have lots of p's.
At this point I realized I had a big mess on my hands. He could now attack in any direction.
All his mot and tank units are in this battle. or most.

RE: May 21 turn 49 First Clear Germans attack
This is the most unorthodox game I think I've seen. Can't you throw a few cavalry corps against that two hex wide area just NE of Moscow? One of those hexes is held by an infantry regiment which can surely be defeated (probably with a hasty attack). You need to make him pay for abandoning his flanks like that (this assumes of course that you have the strength left to attempt it....)
He must be having a hard time getting fuel/supplies through all your ZOC, although I would expect his is using JU-52's to fly in supplies as well.
