Added SS cavalry

Post by Ronald Wendt »

Hi terminator,

the British will hopefully get their equipment in time (aka later a update), 1.08 mainly setting up the game for the Soviet campaign, though not exclusively so.

There is now an Elite cavalry formation in Germany at War, also used as SS cavalry substitute.

A new counter was needed for this as well:

Hi Ronald,
Good idea to have this "special" unit.

Isn't the horse too dark ? I do not know what it looks like on the ground in 3D ?

Hi terminatot,

it was not tested on every possible hex but it did not give us any trouble spotting it. There is a sample:

Hi Ronald,
For me, the horse is always too dark but it is not very important (The ideal would be to test it in the game by playing).

Another detail easy to correct: the 40mm Bofors in the Finnish army was called 40 ItK/36 (tm.asp?m=4347640, you can read that : "In addition to those already on hand, the Finns received 76 from Sweden and 40 from Hungary during the Winter War".)

Hi folks,

added Flak 8.8 for Finland from 1943 on and they got bunkers to fend off the Soviets.

@terminator: changed the designation of the Finnish Bofors. As to the horse: i think it will work fine, but if there are too many complains there needs to be a change of course.

Hi Ronald,

Pz IVF1 is very important for the 1941 campaign. The old C version is out of production by the end of the year and E is only available in small numbers - so it is important to have F1 with the correct gun.

Everyone needs new weapons so Panzerwaffe will also get a couple of PzIVF1.
The art of war is simple and esay to understand but fighting a war is hard.

Hi folks,

added the last new units to 1.08, the Bofors 37mm made its way into the arsenals of the Netherlands and of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

Now we have to do some fixes and to adjust values to finish 1.08. Several planned units did not make it into 1.08 e.g. the 7TP was planned with both variants and new values, some equipment could be put into the British Army etc. Those things are not given up but moved to future updates.

@Marechal: Agreed, the Panzer Divisions need to be up to date or they will face an early demise on the Eastern Front.

40mm Flak 28 Bofors WWII (German version):

In World War II Germany, the Wehrmacht used a number of Bofors guns which had been captured in Poland and France.
The Kriegsmarine also operated some guns obtained from Norway. In German naval use, the gun was designated the "4 cm Flak 28", and was used aboard the cruisers Admiral Hipper and Prinz Eugen toward the end of the war. Beginning in 1942, several E-boats were equipped with the Flak 28 to enable them to fight against British MGBs and MTBs on equal terms.

Hi terminator,

even if it is a bit early as 1.08 is not yet released, we could start a units for 1.09 thread to collect the "easy" models.

Hi Ronald,
There is enough new units in 1.08.
The idea came to me by playing Order of Battle (there is a German captured Bofors) and I preferred to post this idea before I forget.
Good idea to start a new thread for New units in Germany at War 1.09.

its like it sounds. [:)]

Germany at War (as well as Army General) will continue to be advanced.

There still is a 24 map long Soviet campaign and lots of new equipment on my list. But you have to draw a line every now and then and release stuff or it is only done for my hard disk.
