For some reason, our bombers failed to show up, probably due to weather or stacking limits, so only small number of Zeroes swept Manila and with good results too:

Raid detected at 53 NM, estimated altitude 21,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 17 minutes

Of other events of note, IJA managed to mount a successful attack on Hong Kong and reduce it’s forts to 1 - and is near and it will come in day after tomorrow after little R&R.

Ground combat at Hong Kong (77,61)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 21102 troops, 321 guns, 218 vehicles, Assault Value = 589

Defending force 6208 troops, 125 guns, 79 vehicles, Assault Value = 186

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 1

Japanese adjusted assault: 438

Allied adjusted defense: 185

Japanese assault odds: 2 to 1 (fort level 1)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 1

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), leaders(-), experience(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
688 casualties reported
Squads: 1 destroyed, 48 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 8 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 14 disabled
Guns lost 6 (2 destroyed, 4 disabled)
Vehicles lost 2 (1 destroyed, 1 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
346 casualties reported
Squads: 8 destroyed, 33 disabled
Non Combat: 5 destroyed, 8 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled
Guns lost 13 (1 destroyed, 12 disabled)
Vehicles lost 5 (1 destroyed, 4 disabled)

Also in this day our glorious forces have managed to capture following locations:
Guam, Victoria Point, Hollandia, Vanimo, Wewak, Miri, Aitape.

All in all, this was a glorious day for the Empire. We were lucky with weather in carrier battle and if things were different, would probably end up with big losses, maybe as big as American. But it is what it is so we go on. Kudos to my opponent for deciding to continue the game after PH carnage and now this. Most players would give up even with half of losses he sustained in first week of the game, but not him. Says “it’s a challenge to try snatch victory from the jaws of defeat”. You’ve got to respect the man with such attitude, he sounds like a real Empire player :)

Also respect to my little digital soldiers, you did well today!

Good show with sinking The Lady Lex and big E. The more you sink now the further back you push the potential US counter-offensive.

13.12.1941 THE DAY AFTER

CENT.PAC. AREA

After yesterday’s crazy victory, all Japan’s dreams are on the verge of coming true. KB rules supreme and Allies don’t pose a threat to Central Pacific bases and shipping but also to HI industry. KB can return to Truk and assist in conquest of SRA. Japan will probably divide KB to fast and slow groups, where slow will be accompanied by mini KB which will be more than enough to tangle all Allies can throw at us now. But first we need to get back to friendly waters. Allies still have more than decent surface fleet which might search for revenge on either main KB or Kaga group more in the East. The goal is to avoid Allies and perhaps throw a punch or two against any possible pursuers. KB will flee NW towards Kwajalein to refuel and replenish while Kaga will sail north towards IJN oilers and than east towards Wake. Situation after The Grand Battle is:

Hero of the day is CPT Ura Koichi (Naval 59, Aggression 53) while CL Isuzu’s crew day time experience jumped from 68 to 77 and TB Kari’s crew day time experience jumped from 53 to 66 thanks to this day’s success! We’ll make sure that our brave men get extra rations of rum and extra attention from “comfort girls” in Saigon. They deserved it!

MALAYAN THEATER:

Our plan to blockade Palembang and Singapore and also to insure total air dominance is slowly being realized when we caught large batch of Allied fighters and torpedo bombers on the small airfield in Kuala Lumpur. Bombing went well and I doubt that those planes will take any part in defense of Singapore

In the same time as bombing of Kuala Lumpur took place, planes from that wery airfield attacked our ASW TF in Kota Bharu and wrecked it:

Morning Air attack on TF, near Kota Bharu at 51,75

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid spotted at 19 NM, estimated altitude 10,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 12 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-27b Nate x 15

Allied aircraft
Buffalo I x 13
Vildebeest III x 10

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
SC Ch 9, Bomb hits 1, and is sunk
PB Tatsumiya Maru, Bomb hits 4, heavy fires, heavy damage
SC Ch 7

Problem with this sortie is, where are those planes going after they return to their base and land at 100% damaged airfield in Kuala Lumpur. Unless they could be transported via rail out of there, they are going to stick around Kuala Lumpur and wait our advance. We'll see air losses on the ground after we seize that airport in week or two.

CHINA:

One of least expected moves from Allies has happened in Wenchow where all defenders withdrawn from the city towards the north. Our 4th Division took this gift after conducting amphibious landing right into the city limits and captured industry virtually intact. This will be great asset to us as we continue driving through China.

Ground combat at Wenchow (89,58)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 13048 troops, 114 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 448

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0

Japanese adjusted assault: 217

Allied adjusted defense: 1

Japanese assault odds: 217 to 1 (fort level 1)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Wenchow !!!

Combat modifiers
Attacker: leaders(-)

Assaulting units:
4th Division

Our troops in Hong Kong are prepping for another DA tomorrow while enemy defenders are being bombed constantly.
