Open Beta has begun

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

The crash happens after you play 2-3 missions, then you seem to run out of memory. The early versions only crashed if there was an error.
Hi AngrySwan,

I feel the same way you do. The crash " not enough memory available " appears after a certain time of play and does not seem directly related to the size of the scenario since it happened to me in the Kalinin scenario for example.

What are the specifications of your computer?

Hi folks,

is this new to Ausf. B or did it occur also in previous versions ?

During the fixes i only played short periods of time so there was no chance for this to happen.

Hi Ronald,

I did not play much Ausf.A because of the ''drunk drivers bug'' so it is hard to say. To get to this crash you would need to play for several hours non-stop.
If you stop after each scenario (to check who goes where historically and get the division numbers right) you may go through the whole campaign and never notice there is shortage of memory.

My computer has 2. 50 GHz and 8 Gb RAM and can take any game I have in my collection.

Hi folks,

another month has passed and we polished the Soviet campaign quite a lot. But now we have several issues in the program i like to have resolved (the known issues) before a release.

Once again many thanks to all who contributed to this, especially to terminator for his intense testing.

You can get Germany at War 1.09 Ausf. C (a quite combat ready version) via the link in the first post of this thread.

Hi Ronald,

Two scenarios still need German names: Road to Demyansk and Typhoon over Moscow.

I can make these changes and send the scenarios to you or post in this forum, just include them in the final version.

Hi AngrySwan,

absolutely post them in the forum. I will add changes until the official release of 1.09 that should not be a big deal.

Hi Ronald,

These are the Demyansk and Typhoon scenario files with names in English and German.
These names were used in the initial release and later disappeared.

Hi Ronald,

There is a fix for the memory, but as we can not reproduce the error on our machines we need confirmation from you that it was the right change.

The timing issue is currently discussed. The problem is not if its fixable but how much work it might cause to sync the texts as it might need reviewing all missions. As this is a bit annoying but no game breaker it might be left as it is if we simply do not have the time.

Good news,

This memory bug is not too difficult to reproduce for me with a PC or laptop. It occurs after playing 2 or 3 missions without interruption and perhaps more frequently with large scenarios.

Hi folks,

as of now Ausf.D is live and can be downloaded from our servers. The most important thing to check is the memory issue so it would bee great to get some feedback on this.

Thanks again for all the work you put in this to help this version to be as polished as possible with our options.

Thanks for the update,

I’m gonna take a test this weekend or next week. You just need to be able to play for a while without stopping and staying focused so as not to lose during the test.
