I visited late last year. It was cold and I was one of maybe 10 visitors, but there were something like 30 volunteers working on the ships. Great model display on the Big Mamie, and it looks like they have sleepovers on the ship for Boy scouts and Cub scouts, so hopefully the kids learn a bit of history. The PT exhibit is in good shape but some of the outdoor exhibits are in rough shape, and the ex East German missile ship looks to be in tough shape. But without the volunteers (mostly older than I) I am not sure about the future of the place. Location isn't great. I do wonder if it would work out better if they moved up to Boston where they could maybe set up next to the USS Constitution - not sure if there is enough room - but would certainly get more foot traffic. USS Cassin Young is there as well. Would be cool to have Gearing and Fletcher near each other.
