December 1941
Golmud is evacuated. The Japanese are having some problems with their supply and the weather gives us a most welcomed cover from air attacks. A second HQ is disbanded to recover some MPPs.

Classical scenario in China, though one of your counterattacks probably sped up things a bit. At least those units will be absent from other theatres of war for a long time, there is no rail back.

As always, 1942 looks gloomy for Allies, still I think you are in excellent spot. GER lost so much stuff in ME and made a modest gains in USSR only. Not enough real estate taken, even without convoys USSR MPP may be strong. UK and USA are probably pumping out units as mad, UK without sending help swims in cash. 1943 will be probably a huge swing for you.

Thanks Marcin for your words of encouragement, and I thought the same at that time. But things are taking a turn for the worse in the USSR (no spoiler)...

March 13 - March 27 1942
The Germans enjoyed horrible weather during March and that was a blessing for our troops. Then the weather suddenly cleared during the Allied turn. In the far north the important port of Petsamo was captured securing Murmansk. The Germans continued their advance in the Baltic States and found an entrenched Soviet Army at Parnu. The Germans with no panzers or aviation have several veteran infantry corps and an Army.
New defensive positions are being stablished at Pskov and Narva with battered units coming from the Ukraine.

The Germans had to recall some panzers from their forward positions to eliminate the partisans at Minsk. With the enemy supply in difficulties, a Soviet counterattack finished the other panzerkorps and liberated Vitebsk. Another partisan group liberated Gomel, further complicating the supply of the 2 infantry corps approaching Smolensk from the south. This is the safest sector of the USSR, as no German HQ are in the area.

Near Kharkov a second panzerkorps was destroyed but the whole defensive line was moved back towards our fortifications surrounding Rostov. We enjoy air parity in the Ukraine and our bombers managed several successful sorties.

As expected, the Turks appeared at border towns of Batumi and Leninakan in the Caucasus. In Iraq the Luftwaffe used for the first time their new tac bombers level 3 an our Indian corps was easily destroyed. The remaining damaged Indian Army was evacuated from Basra, but the veteran German panzerkorps remained in a critical supply situation.

April 10 - April 24 1942
The fortified city of Daugavpils had to be evacuated in the Baltic States, the Soviet Army being sent to Tehran. Soviet units counterattacked in the Smolensk sector against the low supply enemy infantry corps, destroying the Hungarians and damaging the Germans. A new replacement panzerkorps arrived in this sector.
In the south the Germans upgraded their bombers to level 3 and are now very effective killing machines. The paras captured Kerch in the Crimean peninsula; Kursk was lost.

It is going to be a very hot summer for the STAKVA. The USSR deploys 52 land units vs 76 German land units. The Italians have more units than the British!

May 8 - May 22 1942
At last the USSR developped the Infantry weapons level 2, with more than 6 months of delay! The weather is muddy during the Axis turn and that helped our defense. The Germans are bypassing Parnu on their way to cut the railroad Tallin-Leningrad. They have moved 2 artillery units to the Smolensk area to deal with our fortifications. During the Soviet turn the weather cleared and a well organized counterattack eliminated the recently arrived replacement panzerkorps near Vitebsk.

With the help of the new Luftwaffe bombers General von Manstein hammered hard our defensive fortified positions around Rostov. Our remaining tanks retired to Stalingrad while our positions in the Kuban were reinforced to stop the invaders from crossing the Kerch Strait. With no MPPs available to build new units, the priority for the STAKVA is to avoid unnecessary losses.

The Pacific is quiet, no attacks against Singapore or Malaya. From Kuching their paras are approaching Brunei.

Germany has lost 7 panzerkorps and 4 subs, Japan is virtually unscathed and Italy has lost mainly ships. The Commonwealth (UK and satellites) have been hard hit with 46 units lost including a CV and 3 BBs. The Indians, the real heroes of the Middle East, lost heavily with 11 units destroyed including 5 Armies.

The Germans are getting 850 MPPs per turn, Japan 450 MPPs, UK around 400 MPPs, USA around 880 MPPs and the USSR around 530 MPPs.
German morale is at 106%, the USSR is 83%, Japan 105% and the UK 77%.

June 5 - 19 1942
USA declared war on Germany. For the last 2 turns the German CV Graf Zeppelin had been chasing a British sub and a Soviet DD in the Barents Sea. The heavy units of the Kriegsmarine are operating at the tip of the Scandinavian peninsula, interdicting the Musmansk convoy lanes along with 4 U-Boote.

A big Allied Task Force approached from the Norwegian Sea on its way to destroy these troublesome elements of the Kriegsmarine. This TF is formed by 5 British CVs, 4 BBs, 7 DDs, 2 subs, and 1 CL and is followed by 2 other CVLs. The carriers surprised the German maritime bombers based Tromso and destroyed them, after what the Polish Infantry Corps landed and captured the town.
The CVLs found at Trondheim a small German convoy covered by DD Z-31. After sinking the DD the embarked Infantry corps was attacked by air.

Parnu in the Baltic Sea is still holding but Pskov had to be evacuated as the Infantry corps was needed elsewhere. It is always the same problem, not enough troops to cover the huge fronts. Losing about 1000 MPPs per turn and getting only 500 MPPs it is impossible to replace the lost units
The Germans finished our Heavy Tanks near Smolensk and Vitebsk had to be evacuated. From Orel the invaders are pushing north towards Tula with 2 Armies and the reccon unit. Our last tank reserves were rushed to this new threatened area.

Sevastopol fortress was captured in 1 powerful attack! [:@], lowering further Soviet morale. The Rostov fortifications were overwhelmed and the city itself gravely endangered. The Germans are ready to enter the Caucasus from Crimea. Our aviation retired to Stalingrad with General Zhukov and a few units. The situation is degrading very quickly in this sector.
The Turks have 2 Armies and 2 Infantry corps at the border. The veteran panzerkorps approached Tehran from Iraq. The Japanese are entering Siberia towards Irkutsk and there are no more troops available to stop them.

July 3 - July 17 1942
Near Tromso we endure stormy weather but BB Bismark was sunk after a brief naval engagement. The Italian 1st Maritime bombers and the German fighters were both destroyed in low supply by our carriers.

The entrenched Soviet Army at Parnu is still holding in the Baltic Sea. The “Division Azul” of Spanish volunteers entered Pskov. The Axis pressure towards Smolensk is growing under the assault of 2 artillery pieces and tac bombers. The Ariete Italian Tank unit pushed too far forward on its own and was destroyed in the marsh area.

The Chinese are down to their last 4 units [:(]. Combat in the Himalayas, not the best place to trade blows. Kathmandu is about to be captured by the Indians assisted by General Montgomery and his aviation. More Indian troops approach the Chinese border near Kunming.

July 31 - August 14 1942
Bad weather again near the Norwegian North coast hindered our carrier operations against the Kriegsmarine.

The Soviet Army entrenched at Narva was sent to Stalingrad, their place being taken by the paras. Heavy combat near Smolensk, one of the forts was destroyed. A Soviet counterattack with mechanized infantry failed to destroy the attacking German Army (strength 2). Near Orel our tank forces isolated the Hungarian Army and managed to surprise von Bock HQ that somehow retired severely damaged. New fortification are being built around Moscow, waiting for the mud and rain...
