I've managed to push my way just past Narva and I'm approaching the rivers west of Leningrad. And I've gotten a foothold down south. All my aircraft are green and I've got 34.2 HRS's assigned.

This is T14 R2 around the Smolensk area right now. I usually surround my targets before I destroy them but in this situation I have a hard time finding enough units to completely surround them. I may have made a hole in the Soviets from lines in the north and down south. I'll see if I can't make use of those gaps.

This is the view of the Smolensk area in T17 round 3. I'm running into more and more resistance. It's hard to get a surround going on the Soviet units in this situation, so the going is slow a hex at a time. I'm trying to open a gap below the northern group but the Soviets have a lot of available units to block my efforts. The supply situation isn't the best. It's the middle of August,1941 and the weather is getting worse. I have 34.6 HRS's assigned so far.

Here's what's going on around the Leningrad area right now. The Finns are almost down to the stop line already, ahead of schedule. I attacked the Soviet BB's for the first time, they are in the same hex. I got 55% damage on them for the loss of 29 Stukas. The westernmost defenders have stacked themselves into a single hex making it hard to push them over. I've started to trace a path around the stack to isolate them from their supply path. I may have to push past him to form a defensive line further east.

Here's what it looks like in T19 before I've moved anybody. I've managed to push into the Leningrad area already and I've gotten my troops across the river near Orsha and I'm sneaking up on Smolensk. I can't get my RR arty within range of Odessa because of the broken rail path to get there. I'm thinking of moving a lot more RR enginers down there to lend a hand because Odessa is a "must-have".

Here's what it looks like in T21 before I've moved anybody. The Finns are at the stop line just north of Leningrad and the Soviets have formed an MLR to the west of Leningrad and I've run into more resistance than I can overcome quickly. I need more boots on the ground up there and the rail is repaired all the way to Narva so supply levels are good. In the middle area I've run into the MLR before Smolensk and I'm pushing hard to gain that city.

I'm fighting or the crossings over the river to the east of the Prypet marshes. Kiev is contained and I've stopped up a lot of the river crossings looking south from Kiev. I'm just about to approach the Crimea. I've finally gained a hex at Odessa, so now I'm adjacent to the port itself. I need to grab that port so he won't be able to use it to evacuate his troops. The RR arty is closer to Odessa which is ironic since it's almost all over.

This is the Bryansk area right now. I've got a pretty big gap in my lines and I need to put some boots on the ground in that gap before the Soviets discover the gap and try to run some units through there.

This is the front lines in T22 and I captured Smolensk finally. There are a few Soviet units that I have surrounded down south and as soon as they are gone I'll line the river all the way down to D-town. I gained another hex at Odessa.

Here's what it looks like in the Smolensk area right now ( T23 R1 ). I seem to have made a gap in the Soviet lines but that's just an illusion because they will plug it real quick. That's their MO ( moderous operandi ).

It's now T25 R2 and I'm about to defeat the Soviet defenders and stream into the Crimea. I've got several nude ports that I need to garrison with something or other. I'd hate to see Soviet units float some unit into that nude port.

It's still T27 R1 and this is the view of the Leningrad area right now. Somehow the Soviet player got a unit behind my lines and I have to chase him down and get rid of him. I'm trading artillery strikes with the Soviet side along the Finn stop line. I've got 32.9HRS's assigned. I'm going to make a Stuka strike on the Soviet naval units again this turn. Previous strikes have resulted in the loss of both BB's in the stack of ships.
