Supply loss test. The bottom screen shows the loss of supplies and two rescued marine units #7 and 8.

RE: Just got 1.41 to test
Running 1.4 after a very clean install including a defrag and a wipe of the unused hard drive area. Original-to-1.3-to-1.4 with one turn exercised after each install. Scenario 15. December 7th turn. Historical 1st turn OFF. Vary Setup OFF. Reinforcement FIXED.
Attempted replacement of MacAurthur.
Noticed that TWO Short, W.C.'s were available as follows:
Short, W.C. LGEN Leadership 69 Inspiration 63 (Pretty good for a guy who was a real dud at Pearl Harbor)
Short, W.C. GEN Leadership 37 Inspiration 38 (More realistic but Short wasn't a full general at time of Pearl Harbor - he was a LGEN)
Next, went into Database Editor to see what it had in Leaders for "Short, W.C. Much to my surprise it reported out as follows:
Short, W.C. Rank 25-LT-USN
Type 06-Air Unit
There appears to be a problem here. Finally, I've seen this apparent anomoly on a 1.4 install on two different computers.

Please try and get a save of the disappearing units to one of us.
Kid,
Back in early December I sent a save with the disappearing units bug to Ray at the sympatico email address. (By the way, is that you or Mr. Frag?) Let me know if you need a re-send.

Darn. Then it must be partially dependant on the random number generator.
Along the lines of other comments made in this regard, is there any debugging aid that Mike can use or provide that would help to either lock in a random seed or step through the values? If the possible number of random seed values is large then stepping through the values would be useful only if the runs could be automated.
ps: Were the other saves I sent helpful?

Nope:
LGEN = record 16094, GEN - 16096
They are different records.
The pilot one is 13896

When ships carrying resources, oil, supply or fuel suffer deck or belt hits, some of the cargo is now destroyed. The amount depends on the type and severity of hit and type of cargo. In some cases oil or fuel may ignite, causing fire damage (more for the latter, than the former).
That didn't happen before? I had a fully loaded TK on the way to Wake get whacked by a brace of Vals. When I checked on her condition, most of the loaded fuel was gone and all forms of damage were much, much higher than I would've expected from one bomb. Over the course of her trip back to Pearl the fuel burned off and fire damage kept climbing until all the loaded fuel was gone.
Basically, one bomb and the on-board fuel load caused her to burn like an inquisition victim until I gave up and scuttled her. Are you saying it's been made worse? (Not that I mind.)[:D]

Using the command line parameter –altFont now switches the game font from 14 point Times New Roman to 15 point Ucida Sans Unicode. This font is a bit larger and may work better on some monitors. Although this feature is unsupported, a goodly number of minor changes to text-boxes, list-boxes and text placement were made to account for the larger font size.

Sounds like you guys could have used fontmetric-sensative autosizers in your dialog rendering subroutines.
For more info on this concept, see the wxSizer class references in the wxWidgets project.....

Yeah, I also saw that after 3 Dutch TK go whacked after trying to pull fuel down to Darwin. As the slowly sank, the cargo depleted...

Everyone go to ComSubPac or Malaya Army HQ (any high HQ) and check for alternate leader availability. 2 months into the game I have Flight Lieutenants and such mixed in with the big brass. Can this have any importance seeing as it further illustrates the complete lack of any restriction for leader bug. Nationality, rank, nothing seems to have any sort of impact...it's just one big bowl of Bit's and Bites.
Bytes, too!

You should try using a 30-inches monitor and Zoomie's supersizer. Then the girlfriend would say:
"Oh, Pappy, what *BIG* fonts you have!"

RE: New Font Option
Maybe we could get Platoon to cartoon that one.
As far as the fonts thing is concerned, I have to believe that Times New Roman, the New York Times font and default font for MS Word and most other word processing software, was used simply as a default that closely resembled Courier, the decades-long standard for newsprint, in order to preserve a "40s look" to the print materials associated with the game.
A worthy effort, I think. It might, indeed, be a little difficult for those with impaired vision to read.

Not sure if this would work: an autosizer might conflict with DirectX's texturization pipeline, as the retro-mip-map generator would use a virtual font description that doesn't match the instantiated yet unloaded pre-renderized image of the registered font's vector sequence, and I mean all that before the supersampling needed for the multiple-level anti-aliasing, what would add to the confusion. More about this on Microsoft's Q18394.
In summary, the fonts might lose their serifs!!!

BTW if you use the FIND button in the Editor it will only show you the first instance of the characters you type in.
To find specific names, you need to either page up/down the whole list or run an export utility to dump to a file and the search the file.

From my first game I've been curious about this guy. Were there two different Gen Short, W.C.?
I kinda always thought it was a data entry error.

RE: Just got 1.41 to test
I know I have sent in many saves to Kid on the leader loss issue and some of them will not repeat. As a matter of fact, Turn 1 in scenario 15 is where I can ALWAYS find a leader changed and it gets worse from there. Try scenario 10 with the Chinese LCUs and you start off with up to one third of them as "staff officer" in command.

Mr. Frag,
I sent a "No leader name" save to the sympatico address on 12/11. The save was a "before". Were you able to replicate it, or do anything with it?
