It was an insult to the book! Although I did like the blonde in the shower scene[:D]

Plus they wore football/hockey equipment instead of powered armour like in Heinlein's story. It wasn't really a WAR film...[:D]

It was a joke. The only thing it had in common with the great book was the title and some character names.

Strangelove:

"No fighting in the war room"

General Buck Turgeson had some of the best lines. "IF hes good and I mean real good he can bring that baby in so low" "I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed 10 to 20 million tops!"

The scene in 'where eagles dare ' with the theme music playing and the alpine scenery as the plane flies through it. Is there a better theme tune?

I saw Starship Troopers, the human soldiers were so bad that my freinds and I started debating how far back in history you could go to pull a battalion that could kill bugs faster than the mobile (anyone notice that all they did was walk) infantry. We eventually decided that a late US Civil War cavalry unit with repeating rifles would be the earliest unit that could out preform the solidiers in the movies. Better discipine, MUCH better fire control, high caliber soft lead slugs coming in volleys would have done 10 times the damage of high velocity 30cal assault rifles. Funny film

Plus they wore football/hockey equipment instead of powered armour like in Heinlein's story. It wasn't really a WAR film...[:D]
I don't know about Starship Troopers not being a war film, I've watched several hockey games in my time and from the way they fight...[:'(]

Private Ryan, but not the beginning...the end...When the soldier, now an old man, remembers back on the life he was able to lead because of the man in the ground and then you see all those crosses and think...they all did this so we could lead the lives we lead.

Waterloo, 1971

Mulholland: [the Old Guard is surrounded by British cavalry] Brave Frenchmen! You have done all that the honor of war demands; His Grace, the Duke of Wellington, invites you to save your lives! Will you surrender?
Vicomte Pierre Cambronne: MERDE!
[Cavalry pulls back exposing ranks of artillery]

...talk about stubborn...

The charge of the Scots Greys from the same film gives me goose bumps; as well as the Charge of the Light Brigade from "The Reason Why".

I think it is Flight of the Intruder, when after the all officers meeting the Skipper Camperille asks the movie officer:
"Movie Officer, what is the movie tonight?"
"They Shoot Horses don't they, Sir!"
"Any Skin?"
"I don't think so sir."
"Then CANCEL IT!"

[:D]
Take my word for it. You never want to be involved in an “International Incident”.

Some Favorates of mine:

Kellys Heros Scean mentioned above is one of my all time favorets, the one with odd ball catching rays and the tank is broken, and he dosent know what makes it work.

...........

Das Boot Scean, from the first move, not the second directors cut, they changed the dialog in the scean, the scean is whear the Boat is fluding and the guy is cowering praying and one of the men working smakcs him up side the heaed with a wrench.

...............

A clasic John Wane quote, from his caracter Srg. Striker: "Life is tough...it is even tougher when your stupid."

................

A Scean from a Brdidge to far:

1) When they want the British at Arnihm to surender, and the Brithish oficers replys "We havent the facilitys to take you all prisinor..Sry"

...............

Many Many more as well, hard to name just a few[:)]

Stalingrad isa good film. Very gritty. Only qualm I have is the awful dubbing of it. Shame. A good movie though. There is one bit where a thin line of troopers are in the snow with 1 Pak. A German hguy runs from his foxhole and a T34 literally blows him in half [X(]

The best part was when the Germans were sneaking up to the Russian occupied building and someone's rifle goes off after he stumbled. Then the whole wall lights up with muzzle flashes. Then "clumsy dude" has to make demo sachel attack.

There aren't to many Korea movies out there...........I also like The Hunters (with the coolest actor of all-time before McQueen came along...... Robert Mitchum..... didn't he get busted for smoking pot back in the 50's ???? [;)] ) & of course Bridges at Toko-Ri (with another cool guy Bill Holden)
