While yet to be confirmed in beta testing Paul and I believe we've finally licked the out of sync bug. Paul ran some sophisticated and very time consuming diagnostics and discovered a case where we were accessing valid memory but the wrong memory. I put some checking code and confirmed that in some cases objective tasks were pointing to the wrong mission plan ( their boss's mission plan rather than their own ). Further mods to correct this and testing all day yesterday revealed no out of sync occurances. We will put out another build today so our beta testers can give it a more thorough test. But it is looking good.

THANK YOU PAUL!![&o][&o][&o]

Let me be the first one here to say : Good job !
Even if it is not the genuine "out-of-sync"(tm) bug, it was still an annoying one.

Out by the end of May? Perfect timing, should have my new machine by then! Just to let the team at Panther know, your feedback over the entire long development has been first class [&o]. As for ridding the damn sync bug (hopefully), I can look forward to getting my butt whipped online soon by Yakstock or Markshot.[:@]

It's an insider thingie. Dave once introduced the concept of virtual bottles of Shiraz for exceptional bug hunting features. We weren't too impressed with that, but in a pinch Australian wine can always be used to flush the toilet so it wasn't all bad. [;)]

Then I recently mentioned FireFly Shiraz as the newest Aussie con trick : the grapes are supposed to be picked at night (under the light of fireflies) to keep them out of the heat of the sun. I didn't believe a word of it, and attributed it all to fancy marketing, but apparantly it's true because wine connaisseur par excellence Ray said so.

Now, before anyone asks about the term "psycho-banzaï" - I think I coined that one first to describe my playing habits [:D]

Ah, you noticed it too [;)]

Some of the beta bunnies have already secretly agreed to make sure Arjuna stays focussed on this and not wander off and add some incredibly fine new features to this game that take a year to program.

In the meantime : enjoy COTA - I know you will.

Hi all,

We just put out build 123 our first "final candidate" build. All known bugs crushed, including the dreaded out of sync bug. If all works out well we will sign off at the end of next week.[:)]

Did the time out bug have something todo with windows time as someone mentioned? Just curious?

If so maybe their name should go in the manual as a credit in helping defeat that elusive bug.
